The secret service have their own rules and regulations, and there is no way they allow the person they're supposed to protect speak to an armed crowd.

Except the secret service is calling the shots, not the NRA or "the right."

So, no, it doesn't.

It's also not a "gun free zone," considering there are well-armed, well-trained secret service agents there.

In terms of civilians, it's a gun free zone. Anywhere there's a gun free zone, it typically refers only to civilians as licences government employees (police, secret service, etc) are still allowed to carry.

Now back to the question; why risk not having a good guy with a gun in the crowd? After all, the bad guy with the gun they're afraid of might not be visible to them due to the crowd until it's too late.

There's a difference between general life and someone who is a likely target for assassination.

Your daughter.... Okay hypothetically if someone like you had a daughter, doesn't need an escort to school. Trump or Obama or Putin's kids do as they are big targets.

Either gun free zone makes people safer, or they don't. This should be easy to understand. If they don't make people safer then making this address a gun free zone is pointless. If they do make people safer, then the claim that gun free zones don't make people safer is BS.

I don't really agree with what you're getting at. You're right; it normally refers to civilians only. However, those same zones are normally not staffed with armed security. They just started detailing cops to theaters, and there's maybe one or two armed security officers or cops in decent-sized schools.

Which makes them soft targets.

The argument you're trying to make is intellectually dishonest.

Same thing in a school. Two guys think they're playing hero and go looking for the shooter and sees a guy with a gun. Said guy doesn't wear a police uniform. he shoots the guy. Police officer runs in and sees two guys playing hero, shoots both guys because they're carrying weapons and may be the shooter. They don't have the option to second guess themselves.

The secret service dictates the terms of whatever venue the President appears at; they don't ask favors of the hosting party, unless that hosting party is, say, a foreign power.

They don't ask the NRA what the NRA wants to do; they tell the NRA point-blank there will be no guns at the event.

It's not hypocrisy at all...

Trump is major target for potential assasination, you are not.

If Trump is doing a dramatic public speech in an open area surrounded by strangers, you need tighter security.

If you're at home eating cheetos and watching spongebob, if someone broke in with a pipe and wanted to rip your nipples off then rape you, you should be well within your rights (arguably) to own a firearm to protect yourself.

Why is that difference difficult to understand? It's not the same scenario

No, that's a false dichotomy and an oversimplification. The efficacy of a gun free zone depends on the context. Who's occupying the zone? For what purpose? Are security personnel excepted? If not, then how long does it take for first responders to arrive at that location? The answers to these questions are radically different for a Trump rally versus a rural public school.
