Gender does develop pretty early. The kid can tell you when they have the words to express it.

I'm not saying they should get gender re-assignment surgery at that age. But they probably know how they feel when they feel it. They can take whatever hormones and get the surgeries later in life. But when they're younger, they may be able to determine their gender... possibly...

I don't get all the obsession over gender identification. Biologically if you have a penis, then you are a male. If you have a vagina, you are a female. As far as I'm concerned, "gender" traits are completely a social construct. What is considered masculine and feminine is subjective to the time, place, and culture. For someone to say that they identify with the opposite gender more, to me feels completely insignificant. At least it should be. Who cares if a little boy likes to play with barbies? Who cares if a girl wears "boyish" clothes. Let people be who they want to be and not get so caught up on labels.

People in general are too invested in labels and dividing themselves by gender, race, religion etc.. I think it's been getting better but still has an insanely long way to go. We see a lot of prejudiced people and hate because we are in the process of changing longstanding values. That causes discomfort. It will get worse before it gets better.

I mean if I had one I would let them play with whatever toys and such they wanted. but I would not be giving them hormones or some shit.
