Like, wild and wacky is not necessarily more enjoyable. In addition to their appearances, many of them have wildly unique animations, voices, and sound effects (think Makar's walking sounds for example, or the way the Killer Bees flank you). Each character is visually distinct and can easily be identified from each other, as well as being colorful and fun to look at. Most of these designs would be either impossible or much less interesting and effective if the games were not stylized. If you think these games have lazy character design, then you are just blatantly wrong.
