A Kansas City firefighter charged after an incident where he spat on a 3-year-old child and called him the n-word is back at work this week.

The firefighter is accused of threatening to shoot a Black customer, calling him a racial slur and then spitting on his 3-year-old grandson inside the restaurant. The victim, Raymond L. Harris, stayed behind after the Hooters manager called the police to report Harris and his family, not Skeen. Harris family was ultimately asked to leave the restaurant, despite having done nothing wrong, according to the newspaper.

Harris said he was still inside with his grandson when the child briefly wandered away. Moments later, another patron said she saw Skeen spit on the child.

You need to get that fing girl and take her back to the other side where you came from, Skeen shouted at the man from across the bar.

After correcting him on the tots gender, Harris said he asked Skeen if he had spit on his grandchild.

Fuck you, you (n-word), Skeen allegedly replied. I will spit on you. Fuck you! I will shoot you!

Skeens attorneys have denied the allegations and said his clients side of the story will all come out at the trial. The firefighter is expected to plead not guilty

Pretty weird that a dude is bringing a 3 year old to a Hooters. Still not appropriate to spit on and threaten to shoot them.

I've, unfortunately, seen a lot of kids at Hooters. On one hand, I see no problem with this because it's just scantly dressed women. On the other hand, it's supposed to be a respite from the rest of the world. No one wants kids there.

Yeah the issue with Hooters isn't that the kids are going to be exposed to women in tight clothing, but that you are bringing kids to a place most patrons go to get away from things like kids.

That it obviously doesn't justify spitting on a kid or being a racist asshole.

EDIT: Reading up on it more it looks they were there for family birthday with the whole family. Hence the kids.

I mean we're only getting the "victims" side. If you ask the firefighter, he'd probably have a completely different side. The point of the trial is to get the truth that's somewhere in between.

Although I'm inclined to believe the "victim", since they're taking this to court. Don't see much to gain if it's a lie.
