Open nationalism is far more common here than - just to put a neat date on it - when the Trump campaign kicked off. Having said that, CE remains a largely liberal board, and just as we've seen more open members of the far right, we also have more open leftists than I can ever recall. I remember ~2008 when Scintillante was considered to be way the hell out there for espousing views that are fairly commonplace today. I've done polls just asking people how they identify, but there are always joke votes, and equally weighting each user isn't a fair representation of a board where some of us (such as myself) are far more prolific posters than others. If I had to put percentages on our political discussion 20% alt-right 10% conservative 30% liberal 20% leftist 20% people who spout off about how they hate "both sides" without ever espousing views of their own But so much gets bent by the U.S. political lens, so it can appear at times 75-25 to the left because that's how many disapprove of Trump. Maybe left-leaning in general but only cause a lot of things that are just common decency is "left-leaning." The far right is definitely the loudest tho, It's not even that. The board shifts depending on who's got the power. Why? Because they're the one doing dumb shit most the time. The board was against Bush when I was here in 05-07, against Obama when in 08-09 and still against him when I came back in 11 up until like late 15 where it became more neutral and now it's against trump (for damn good reason). The fluctuates depending on who controls the legislative power but only mildly (since most just credit that to the sitting president anyways. It's almost always leaning opposite of who's in power with the vocal majority being whoever feels it's their life's work to defend their party in power. These last two years I agree, it's left leaning with the right being the most vocal about anything and everything but it hasn't always been the case. TBH it's why I find both sides who identify strongly as a liberal or conservative on this board stupid.
