"Based on the job requirements, I don't believe I have any weaknesses that will affect my work."

If they press you further and insist you give something:

"I [something irrelevant to the job], and I've been working to improve it [though this specific way]."

This is what I learned at an interview seminar a couple years ago.

Tell them a weakness and then how you're addressing it.

Like I'm bad at delegating work down but as I've moved up in my role I am learning I need to delegate it down so the job gets done and over the last few months I've started to give more responsibility to people below me.

Or something like that.

I would use a canned and predictable answer like, Sometimes I expect more from myself than is reasonable. Its a bullshit question so a canned answer is really just a punt.

Try to have an example if you use the above without throwing coworkers under the bus.

@DarkChozoGhost

Is this for real? I think it's a pretty good, confident answer.

I wonder how many interviewers would look at this (possibly incorrectly) as arrogance.

Well I once answered that my weakness is that sometimes I tend to try to finish everything I have to do without taking breaks and that it has lead me in the past to suffer burnouts since I didn't know my limits and didn't allow myself to take enough breaks.

I was hired.

And two months later I was in a clinical burnout.

I don't take rejection well and sometimes it results in a violent reaction, I'm working through it by counting out loud to the number 10.

I'm not joking, I actually said this once for an interview at a Whaaburger and when they rejected me, I left while counting numbers while sobbing/screaming, then came back in to order some strips to go.

nowadays I just sit here unemployed, unfulfilled and just waiting to die while cleaning up addy's runny dog shit.

Ive gambled with "my attention to detail sometimes gets in the way of my productivity" and won several times. You can flip or substitute those as needed depending on how you read the interviewer, in the formula of "my X more desirable trait sometimes affects my Y less desirable trait, though im working on a balance"

I've used this one, as well as saying I have a tendency to overthink things. The way I work it back around is saying I double and triple check to make sure everything I'm doing is as accurate and accounted for as possible, which can come at the cost of time.

this is actually a good interview question if it's worded correctly and asked for the right reasons

when i hire an analyst or a quant i want to understand that they're aware of their shortcomings in said area and have the self-awareness to actually realize where they need improvement

I usually list something that I used to have a problem with and say how I've over come it or whatever.

I'm more annoyed by stuff like, "Give an example of when your boss wanted you to do something unethical!" or "What do you do when you have co-workers you don't get along with?"

I've never ran into those issues. So I tell them that, but they act like I need to come up with something.
