The music was pretty spot on for the tense moments. For a movie with so little dialogue, I was paying attention the whole time.

They did a good enough job making me feel tense every time any amount of noise was made. Also I kinda don't want this type of story to have a positive/optimistic ending. Also I don't want to think too hard about why no one figured out how to deal with these creatures sooner

Just got back from it. I was a little ehhh on the ending (you mean a single shotgun blast attracts all of them but the fireworks earlier didn't?), but overall I'd say it's an 8/10.

I kinda figured it did attract them but the one they killed just happened to be closer. I also felt killing off Krasinski's character was a little unnecessary and forced. Regardless it was a solid movie. 9.5/10 without dwelling on the ending.

To be fair theyre extremely isolated and it starts fairly early on in the arrival of the creatures.

I saw it as a surprise screening for Alamo Drafthouse Top Brass members a few weeks ago. We didn't know what movie it was going to be, only that it was something still unreleased.

I thought it was pretty good, had the same complaints about the forced feeling of the ending as a few others here. They telegraphed the hearing aid superpower" too much and I pretty much knew Krasinski was going to die from that first moment of conflict between him and the daughter. Otherwise it was well paced and the sound design was great.

It was really good. I do think it was odd that they had a baby. I understand that it was so build suspension, but why would you bring a child into an awful world like that?

Also the news paper headlines all suggested they knew they were blind and hunt by sound.The number of news papers suggested it was going on for some time in which they knew this. Yet no one thought to blast them with various noise frequencies? Also a headline said they were armored, yet she easily blew its head off.

I hope they make a sequel and do an action horror movie like alien/aliens. I'd give it an 8/10 as well.

Jim's pull out game is weak, and the family appeared to be pretty religious, which is why they wouldn't just raid the pharmacy for some morning-after pills or something.

Anyways, I liked it. Well shot, well directed, well acted, some tense moments but ultimately it's just good and not great for me. Something about it just didn't connect with me. Too many of the oh fuck moments were spoiled in the trailer, too much camera time on the creatures. It felt like a drama-thriller-creature feature and not a horror movie (which isn't a problem in and of itself). Idk maybe part of it was just being hyped up too much but I don't see where all the absolutely raving reviews are coming from.

I kinda thought maybe the dresses were homemade or something, or Evelyn just liked that farm style but maybe.

I just got home from seeing it, you posted spoilers in the title so I wont use the spoiler tag here to save everyone from staring at a black wall. Here we go

Overall it was a decent film, it can be lifted up because its shakig up the genre and its different from anything to come out recently. But I have some major issues with the plot.

The boards in the basement say they are armored he doesnt know the weakness. This leads us to obviously believe they cannot be destroyed by our conventional weapons(which the end proves isnt true). Why would militaries have not just had people sit in tanks and blow these beings to bits whit helicopters above raining down hell on them? If one single shotgun blast from a civilian shotgun can kill one how could this have happened in the first place?

The boy plays with the toy and this being comes with the precision of a guided middle immediately from god knows how far and destroys him. Yet when its a more dire situation they confidently lose that precision and confidence? Why?

I understand they covered water and louder noises drowning out the other noises to remain safe. But, Im sorry, a baby crying 6 inched from that things face in the basement and that piddly water stream is NOT going to cover up that sound. And can we talk about how she just didnt wake up while that thing clearly ripped a hole in her house and then tore the mattress away and jumped into 3 feet of water and all the while the baby is silent and she doesnt wake up? Doesnt make sense.

In the silo that being literally just ripped right through the silo wall, but it couldnt get through that truck roof? Having said that, if it cant even take out a flimsy decaying truck roof how has the military not killed them with all their armored vehicles?

Really it feels like I watched the middle of a pretty good movie, it really would have benefited at least from a small flashback to give us some context of what actually happened. The ending felt like a cop out too.

And I know theyve never come out and said if they were aliens/monsters for a reason, but Im going to go there so humor me. These thugs behave like wild animals, not intelligent beings. They dont seem like they would b capable of organizing and building inter dimensional space travel.... not to mention if they could their sensitive hearing would have made such travel impossible in the first place. Whats their purpose? They arent taking over, we dont see them feed so they dont do it to satiate huger, they seem like they are just twilight zoned embodiments of of people who always go around shushing.

Anyway, I know I kind of tore it open but it was still enjoyable, if you dont think. The more you think about it the more unbelievable it becomes. Still worth a watch though, I was entertained.

Ah ok, I missed the meteor thing. But with the weakening? How, where? From what I could tell its physical form didnt change at all other than the strange flaps on the head moving differently, but they were opening when there was no sound present also.
