I got it for about 40% off and wasn't happy with it. I don't know if I am just tired of the formula or they did this one worse, but I was just bored or frustrated at all times. The gunplay is very floaty too.

100% worth it. I liked it way more than 3 or 5, which it is most comparable to.

Definte "pounded:

They're there, but they honestly make no fucking sense as it's super easy to earn money in the game, the unlockables are stupid cosmetics and on top of that they give away the micro currency in game and through live events.

I honestly didn't even notice microtransactions. You get plenty of money and anything worthwhile in the game is unlocked through missions or bought with in-game money, I don't recall seeing anything locked behind a paywall. The only time money might become an issue is if you're trying to go for all the achievements or something (since they require to buy cars and modify weapons and stuff).

IMO Yes.

Far Cry 1 was a gem when it came out - massive living environments (relatively speaking, it's actually a pretty linear game in comparison to modern games, but its main competition, whose releases it predated by several months, were HL2 and DOOM 3), ragdoll physics, the ability to take different routes, pretty good AI.

Far Cry 2 is a very, very, very slow burn but if you saw that crowbcat video you can see what sort of details it features that have been absent in the following games. It's pretty real.

Far Cry 1 is okay but the controls feel wonkey and dated IMO.

Far Cry 2 is a mixed bag. It was trying really hard to be this hardcore immersive experience, but the execution wasn't the best. I'd say it's worth it on PC with mods that fix some things, and if you can get it cheap. Otherwise skip.

I regret buying it. While it's a beautiful game, I bought it for co-op and they ruined the co-op. They claimed you could play the entire game in co-op with a friend, which is why I bought it, what they failed to tell you was that the story progresses only for the host and the friend will never be able to unlock new guns, outfits, etc.

Didn't realize this until 3 hours in. If I had known sooner, I would have gotten a refund on Steam.

Haven't played since the original. Got far cry 5 on a whim just because I wanted a new title and haven't gotten one in a while. Was super skeptical at first, but it's a solid game. 60+ hours for sure, so to me, 60$ was worth it.

It's a wide open sandbox with a beautiful setting and serviceable bad guys. It is largely influenced by more morally ambiguous action flicks and switches between free-roaming adventure with multiple approaches (guns blazing, stealth, ranged, melee, etc) to scripted action set pieces. You get a plethora of options when it comes to weapons and vehicles, bows to bazookas, sea-planes to tractors. They also add a map maker and a multiplayer feature in the 'Arcade' mode, which gives you main game benefits for playing as well. As far as the series go, it's probably my favorite Far Cry yet. However, on the flip side, the game can get a bit repetitive, especially when doing side missions, and there have been a number of bugs that can break immersion as well.

Normally, I'd say that if you like Far Cry than this game is a slam dunk, otherwise, it's a solid action game with little competition right now, but if any of the things above turn you off, you can safely skip it without losing out too much.

Its the same as 3 and 4. I actually think i liked those significantly more.

Maybe it was done worse, or maybe the formula is just beginning to become stale. Idk.

Still enjoying it though and there's a lot to do

Oh yeah I'm not trying to say it's not worth it. I bought the ... more expensive version that includes the season pass, too. I'm just suggesting that you can realistically 100% it before the 50 hour mark is all.

Oh, I agree, but Far Cry is sort of full of those kinds of stupid contrivances. It's not really a knock against this game as it is against the entire series. I'm just saying if you are willing to suspend disbelief for 3 or 4 or Primal or Blood Dragon, 5 isn't going to be any sort of challenge for you to grasp.
