two groups patrol in and proc

i decide to raise the stakes and call in the lost with a few grenades, hoping they would fight eachother

they complete ignore the lost and attack me, the chosen extracts knowledge and gtfos and now im fucked

one guy was trapped in a corner by a muton and took an absolute pounding. like 3 melee hits and i was healing him every turn to keep him alive

i manged to win in the end, got 4/12 or so crates and no deaths

the guy who took the beating and was basically on life support throughout the mission was gravely wounded, is out of action for 22 days and developed a fear of mutons

IIRC the game is coded to be like, 75% chance the lost will attack you over attacking the aliens, and same for the aliens?

There's a mod that makes it 50/50 which seems more fair tbh.

One time I pressed the gamepad button by mistake in my PS4 controller and it instantly ended my turn, no confirmation box or anything, I broke my no reloads honor code that day >_>

im about to ragequit this playthrough

got the dumbest mission where theres no high cover anywhere, so i take the next best thin and take half cover on elevated ground right? and i also have 4 guys on overwatch as i nade a pack, for a nice ambush?

well all my shots miss. and then they get perfect accuracy and never miss a shot even against high ground half cover guys

lost 3 guys including a templar and psionic warrior

I just finished that mission yesterday. I remember starting this mission, assuming I was only up against The Lost, and I was okay with that. Then Advent popped up, and the race for the supplies began.

Then The Chosen Assassin dropped in and my heart skipped a beat. I had spread my team in 2 groups of 2, to cover as much ground as I could to grab as much supplies as possible. Sadly, she dropped in right next to team 2, and team 1 was unable to provide support. My buttcrack filled with sweat. Luckily, The Lost did draw quite some attention from the Advent, meaning I only had to focus on the Chosen, but man, that mission had my heart racing.

I love it when the game mixes it up like this, but damn, it's horrible for my blood pressure.

The levels are randomly/procedurally generated if I am not mistaken, so yeah, you can get screwed over in terms of terrain.

Is it content? Did you have to download it?

Yeah, it's DLC. It might be very good DLC, and very much worth the price. But it's still fucking DLC.

Yeah, it's DLC. It might be very good DLC, and very much worth the price. But it's still fucking DLC.

While I agree, it does feel like an expansion from the old days, like LoD for Diablo 2. It's a complete overhaul of the game, adds tons of content (new missions, classes, persistent bosses, gear, etc) and expands on everything already in the game.

So yeah, just calling it DLC is a disservice to what WotC actually is.

I remember playing one of the original X-Com games with my brother years ago. We were doing one mission and one of our guys somehow glitched to a tile outside the map and was lost to us. Then a mission or two later (cant remember if it was directly after) he randomly appeared back with us on top of a barn and saved the day by taking pot shots at the enemy when they moved. X-Com man... freaky games.

one time in EW, when i was attacking a large ship, had my guys in a corridor, getting a small view in the next room.
i see a few mutons run by, then i see those flying repair robots, and the overwatch kills one.
then i think to myself: "when one of those appear, the giant mech is usually not far behind, i wonder where he could be"

then the aliens turn end, and i see that it has just chosen to spawn right in the middle of my squad

i did end up killing it in one turn, (after reloading a failed attempt) but my Sniper sitting right next to it took some damage from the explosion.
that pissed me off to no end

I literally don't even look at the name of the topic creator before I click on the topic. I guess you just always post about things I'm interested in and have a terrible opinion on those things. Nothing personal. But when you make a stupid statement like "this content that is downloadable is not downloadable content" I feel like I need to point that out. You should stop saying those kinds of things if you don't want me to comment on them.

For what it's worth, the story of your struggle was entertaining. XCOM has a lot of "oh, fuck me..." moments and they're usually fun to read and very relatable.

it changes the xcom 2 campaign.

the xcom 2 campaign is now the same as it was before, but with The Chosen hunting you down and with the additional factions fighting the Advent
