I frequently forget what I was about to say. It's really starting to get infuriating to forget a word in the middle of a sentence all the time.
And forgetting stuff that you were just about to do but can't do now because you forgot what it was : (

I don't know if anyone has noticed but it has gotten harder for me to write sentences that doesn't sound awkward. Even in my native language.

I still remember miniscule details from many years ago but for some reason I can't remember what the fuck I was about to say two seconds ago : /

Due to anxiety issues I find it difficult to concentrate at times this my memory takes a knock. Apparently I have a good memory though.

Yeah. I can't remember names unless I see and/or hear them multiple times, and often times, I'll have a thought, then forget it a minute later after thinking of something else. There are things that I remember that surprise me though, like details of things that happened when I was, like, 5 or so.

I started taking a bacopa supplement recently, so hopefully that will eventually help. My selective memory is interfering with my studies :/

Yeah and I'm pretty sure I inherited my awful memory from my dad. We're both pretty forgetful and that usually gets us in trouble.

Pretty much the same as you, TC. I have a lot of "brain farts" these days, but I have tons of memories of random, pointless shit throughout my life. Sometimes I'll bring one up and people will act surprised that I even remembered it.

Very much yes.

In fact, I can say for certain that my failure in life will most likely be attributed by my horrible memory.

Not in the same sense as yours. But I'll watch a movie at the cinema on Sunday, the next day I'll struggle to remember what I watched, where I watched it or what it was about. Doing a bit of reading I think it's slightly related to my depression cause I've always had a remarkably good memory

Luckily no brain farts or forgetting mid sentence lol

Embarrassingly bad. I have already forgotten the names of close to 90% of the people that I was working with less than a year ago. Even that cute nurse that I was trying to get close to. I regularly forget common words. It took me ages to remember my own phone number. Even now I sometimes have to take a moment and think about it. I was 32 two years in a row because I forgot how old I was and started saying I was 32 a year early.

It's really bad with time frames. My memory of when stuff happened is typically way off. Even with stuff that was just a few weeks back.

When trying to remember a new person's name I need to say it to myself several times. But I often forget to do that and end up forgetting their name anyway.

Today I asked someone 4 times what they told me within 15 seconds. Each time I memorized it... and then forgot. It was two numbers.

When I was in school I never remembered to do my homework. Ever. Ever. Not even if I wanted to. I forget to read my list of things I shouldn't forget, I've got a backlog of things I should have done months ago. I know a grand total of 7 coworkers' names off the top of my head. They all wear name tags and I've known them for months.

My middle school sweetheart walked up to me one day and I didn't remember her whatsoever. She got married to someone a couple years later.

In Pokemon I usually save multiple times in a row just to be sure it really saved.

I was reading all these comments, getting more and more confused the more I read.. I just didn't understand..

Then it finally dawned on me, I had read the name of the thread wrong!

I thought it said "Is your kids kinda s***ty or unreliable?"!

Actually it's the polar opposite and people hate me for it. The only impressive thing I can do mentally is remember everything I've said or had said to me, within reason. It makes life easier academically but socially it makes it hard to trust people and people think I'm a know-it-all and actively avoid me. I stopped saying anything about it for that reason. It works.

I don't retain information very well unless it is directly useful to me.

That said, my brain is full of song lyrics to music I don't even like, and celebrity minutiae I don't care to know.

I tend to have a really good memory. There's a few things I have trouble remembering, like dates of when something happened, but for the most part I'm good at remembering other details.

However, there is a downside to that. I trust too much that I'm remembering correctly, so when I'm misremembering something it can be embarrassing and a little confusing lol. Doesn't happen too often, but I have made a fool of myself a few times because of it.

My short-term memory isn't the best.

My long-term memory...hoo-boy, watch out. I can STILL remember directions to a house I lived in San Diego more than 35 years ago (including names of streets).

Mine used to be really good but for some reason it has gotten worse as of late : /

I mean, I can still remember some shit but when I'm telling something to someone I can sometimes completely forget what I was about to say.

I think that's just called being a bad speaker and easily distracted. It's the same with me. My memory is great, but good luck telling me to do something 5 minutes from now.
