Entire lot filled, people all over the place, and lines going back to the middle of the store. Looks like everyone has the same idea and doesn't want them going out of business! I wonder if it's not too late for them to be saved...

Was the same last night at the one near me. Actually go there pretty often for the baby stuff and will miss not having the experience of going there with my son when hes older.

Nothing is on clearance though. It's regular prices, some 20% off sales here and there but nothing special. They haven't started liquidation, they just announced they plan to close down. I wonder if it's reversible at this point.

Like if enough parents are like you know what, I loved this place as a kid and I want my kids to have that same experience, and it's worth paying a few bucks more than on Amazon to have that.

It's the rough equivalent of finding out a relative you haven't seen for several years is dying.

There's even some rumblings of selling the 100 or so least awful US TRUs to the Canadian branch, and keeping those open.

UK TRU is on it's way out as well.

Legendary Collection Kaiba is too expensive but man some of the shit in their is good(and valuble)

There is nothing redundant about asking if people can still keep their jobs despite a store shutting down. They can always be reassigned elsewhere.

I get that I just thought it would be possible these employees would be placed in different stores (NOT Toys r Us) because its not their fault. I guess not.

Nah. If a place goes out of business, they can't just shift several thousands "somewhere else ". It sucks.

At issue will be whether liquidation of the entire U.S. business will proceed as the only option (per preference of the "B-4 lender" group) or if a parallel process can continue whereby different debtors can keep working to find a strategic or financial partner that would save around 200, strong-performing U.S. stores (via a merger with the company's much-healthier Canada business).

There's still a slim chance TRU could survive somehow, kinda.

So with these deep discounts their prices will be about in line with what you can get the stuff for on Amazon? Brick and mortar is a dying business model.

Walmart is at least attempting to competently compete with Amazon. TRU never could figure that out.

I went there today to check it out (it's too early to expect much of a sale yet) and to see the Pokmon and yugioh stuff they had but a manager told me their distributor pulled all of their tcg product from the shelves? Can anyone confirm further on that? That was my only real interest for sales anyway, unfortunate.

Don't expect many awesome deals on video games, either, apart from maybe even bigger firesales on toys-to-life junk.

Palutena amiibos are already down to $3, from before TRU actually died.

It's actually Amazon workers buying stuff on the cheap to resell at a much higher rate, but hey... it's at your front door in just 2 days.

The liquidation sales will be crappy leftovers unless you want some toys for kids or something. Maybe a few gems, not often. Big stuff like games and trading cards really don't like losing money. It's easier for Amazon to buy them up.

This. The good items will be bought by other retailers and sold at a profit for them anyway.

Games and systems will not be clearanced more than like 5%, at best.

It is. They're not doing so hot. They're not even doing any sales, people are just grabbing stuff since they do have some cool stuff.

Games might go on sale but it'll be slim pickings. When my local store ( grocery store ) shut down their electronic isle I snagged Forza (the iteration before the newer one) for $30, Raymond Legends for $30 and I think some a remaster bundle for $20 but there was just junk there mostly.
