Like its so many design choices to make where it has to be the new evolution of Pokmon.

Like is every wild Pokmon in the overworld now or do you still use grass

Are battles still turn based ?

Is it linear or open world ?

Like its baically going to be a whole new blueprint and its so easy to fuck up.

They already said not to get our hopes up and with how barebones all the 3DS games were I believe them.

I always thought Pokemon physically being in the overworld would be a good idea until I realized how much that would suck. And turn based would be the way to go still. But maybe revamp the battle system somehow.

Honestly, what they need if they really want to move into the next gen with Pokemon, is to ditch the RNG encounters.

Encounters should be much more rare, but you should just see Pokemon while you're out exploring around.

The turn-based battle system is fine, but they need to add a layer of exploration beyond 'walk in the grass'.

I don't care at all about Pokemon, but they absolutely hit it out of the park with Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey. You'd think that Nintendo fans would be giving them a bit of the benefit of the doubt for at least the time being.

It's just about impossible to fuck up pokemon. It's like Dragon Quest. The fans really like that style, so just give us more of it.

About the only way they could ruin it would be making it an open world action RPG with no random encounters.

And GameFreak would (probably?) never do that outside of a spinoff game

Because Pokmon and game freak deserves the benefit of doubt

It's going to be identical to every Pokemon game released in the last 20 years. Until they stop making billions of dollars on each game the formula isn't changing.

Technically Nintendo doesn't make Pokemon, Gamefreak does. And Gamefreak is technically 3rd party that owns a 3rd of Pokemon.

Let's be real it's probably gonna be mostly like Sun/Moon but with the HD textures unlocked, and running at 60fps.

Tbqh I think they should let Game Freak team up with Genius Sonority, the studio that made Pokemon Colosseum. That game was fantastic for what it was. Shame they never made any other console Pokemon RPGs after Pokemon XD.

The pokemon should be walking around on the map and you can do things like sneak up on them for an advantage (helpful to catch some pokemon like Abra) or just run at them head on. But when you encounter them it goes to a turn based mode. Kind of like how FF13 did it.
