The box office lies don't bother me that much. The claims that it's the 'first black superhero movie' do, as well as the whole 'realistic portrayal of African culture.'

Film industry piggybacks on political trends for publicity all the time.
Black Panther film is big right now and popular on social media as a political/cultural miracle.
