Depends on the genre. Pop and shit is pretty easy for example. But I listen to a lot of metal so sometimes it's next to impossible to actually understand all or even most the lyrics from ear alone.
But once I look up the lyrics I usually immediately go "oh I hear it now" and don't forget them.

Yes, the vast majority of the time. I like to think about the metaphors and imagery they are using.

Same. Fortunately most metal lyrics are unremarkable.

Back to the main topic - yeah, I usually can. I wish I didn't - unless they're incredible, I don't find myself caring about what the singer has to say. A lot of the music I listen to nowadays is instrumental for that reason >->

Nope

And I quit listening to music a few years ago. It does nothing for me now. I really don't know what changed

Yeah, for the most part. Metal and hard rock is the hardest for me

Rap is the easiest, but only with wordplay stuff. I can't keep up with that Twista shit

Yeah, there have been songs where I couldn't even tell if it was in English or not, but still liked the song. After I eventually look up the lyrics it's rarely anything important, the song, vocals, and atmosphere are enough to convey what they're going for on their own.

Usually. When I was a kid, almost never, but since actually got into popular music (as opposed to classical; I've been into classical most of my life due to piano lessons and school band) and started going out of my way to listen to it instead of just hearing it on the radio in the car or at the grocery store, I've gotten better at it.

I still mostly don't care about the lyrics because they mostly don't mean much to me (they're usually either in love or just saying apparently random nonsense), but there are a few artists where the lyrics really contribute a lot to the song.

It depends entirely on the singer dude.
Like if it's Eddie Vedder of course you're not gonna understand half the lyrics.

A lot of times, too, the main reason I like the vocals in a song is for the musical qualities. The tambre of the singer's voice, the intonations of the words they chose, etc. Alnost like they're just another instrument--a really expressive one.

Literally never. Vocals are pretty much just another instrument to me. I have to read the lyrics to get it to click.

Yes but what kind of music do you listen to??

This topic is like "Are you guys ever able to drive over 5 miles per hour in your car?" and then finding out TC drives Power Wheels...

Also in a lot of styles of music you'll even be directed by the producer that enunciation and clarity isn't too important, to rather use your voice as an instrument and just let it come out however feels right.

Here's a loose example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izq-B50k0-Y&t=0m38s

Oh shit, tag me in. I'll need to get hammered first but I'd sell the shit out of some quality karaoke jams. Then experience something like this the day after.
