Holy shit

Its a little buggy but nothing that I found that even remotely interrupted my experience.

Dude this is a game that makes you rethink how you play video games. You ever try to immerse yourself in a game and get burnt out because the AI or the systems are just stilted in a way that makes you feel as if you dont have any affect on the world?

KCD is a game that immerses you in ways Ive never seen in a game. Not just because of how good the graphics are, not just because the story is super rich and engaging. But also because the attention to detail and how it rewards you as a player for paying attention.

In most games theres a divide between gameplay, world and story, theres an abitrary line that you end up rubbing against when your character can do x and y in gameplay and suddenly is useless in a cutscene. Or vice versa, suddenly your character is doing all these things you would never be able to do yourself.

I dont know if I could ever go back to an Elder Scrolls game, this one has ruined my expectations.

Reminds me more of oblivion, with the UI and setting.

But sooooooooooo much deeper. I dont know what ES6 is going to bring, but I guarantee they wont be able to compete with the experience that Kingdom Come...delivers...

Save system is a little silly. Last night I kept the game running because I didnt know how soon I would be able to save, didnt want to waste an item and also dont want to lose any progress.

But also...I kind of really like it in a weird way too

I like how theres more accountably in your actions and it really affects your play style. Im terrible for just reloading saves if I mess up in any way. I could put those restrictions on myself arbitrarily...but my actions still dont feel all that weighty because its all manufactured in my head.

Google "Skyrim Infinite Load Screen" real quick.
It was a huge issue at launch and there were a massive amount of mods that tried to deal with it.

Now Google "Skyrim game breaking bug", or "Skyrim quest bug" and notice the similarly huge amount of hits.
I mean, there are even top 10 lists and shit on YouTube.

Skyrim is a massively broken game, don't kid yourself.

Morrowind was a great game for the time and has a lot of depth to it that is sorely missed in todays market

But it does not play well my dude

No matter how many mods you try to pump into it the janky ass combat never gets any better. Characters have a lot of depth yet are completely lifeless, they just stand there to dispense dialogue or die. It has the most interesting world, and geography of any ES game yet but nothing really happens.

KCD is what the Morrowind team would make with todays technology, I think.

Morrowind's still a great game, it didn't stop being one. Just because technology made for better looking games didn't mean they became better role playing games. Look at Oblivion and Skyrim: impressive looking games, with more of a "living world," but with the depth of a puddle, really. Contrast to Morrowind which has some of the most impressive built in lore, incredibly unique geography, a story that is honestly more interesting than Oblivion or Skyrim's, and loot and levels that were designed and placed entirely by hand. So NPCs don't have a daily schedule. I'm fine with that, when there's so much other great stuff about Morrowind.

And, I know the combat is always such a major complaint from people but I don't see why you're complaining about role playing in a role playing game. You have to work to be able to wield a weapon well, you can't just expect to swing a sword and know how to use it. Even Kingdom Come explicitly and clearly demonstrates this in the opening minutes.

I'm enjoying it, but it has some glaring flaws.

It is a complete buggy mess. Like not even a 'oh, that's annoying'. I've had multiple sidequests just break on me. At one point, I was tasked with taking out a Cuman camp. I did it stealth, but forgot to loot the captain for the mask I had to turn in. So I went back and the captain was gone and two new Cumans had appeared. I took them out and just wandered around.

Then I heard shouting in English, so I head to the noise and there was three bandits walking around in circles. I stealth killed them. Then noticed a guard and a Cuman sitting back to back, in the middle of a road, in the forest. So I killed them too. Still no captain.

In another case, a geeky knight showed up telling me how his mom pushed him out of the house to be a knight. I convinced him to go for the whole virgin rescue first. Cool. Then I ran into him again, and we both introduced ourselves. He challenged me to a duel, so I dueled him for his shirt. Then it happened again, and I won is money. Then again, and I challenged him for his sword. Halfway through, he yells in Turkish and Henry OHKO'd him and kills him, so I loot his body (which marks the sword I won as stolen). Then he showed up again ...

Other than that, the story is awful. It's literally just the most stereotypical Middle Age story I've ever seen, down to the peasant boy who is orphaned by an invading army and the nice noble who takes pity on him and shirks convention to allow him into the upper echelons of noble society. Honestly, I'm disappointed. Even worse are the women. They all just sort of exist for you to do chores for them and then bang them.

I also find the whole 'historically accurate' thing is pretty ridiculous. Yes, the armor and weapons are cool, but the game just ignores a lot of historical stuff in favor of gameplay. That's fine, but don't sell me 'historically accurate' and deliver me Czech peasants speaking in Shakespearean English.

The wait times are also ridiculous. Fast travel is barely faster than actually walking, and sleeping takes literal minutes. I actually browse Reddit while I fast travel or sleep.

All in all, it's a decent game, but it's got some really bad flaws that I feel like people are ignoring in order to focus purely on the how the bugs will all be 'ironed out in the future'.

I'm not sure, but I think I've met four named women so far, I did quests for two of them resulting in banging, one ran a whorehouse, and the last one was literally only named 'old whore' and made me steal shit for her because her husband threw her out for another woman (who she then murdered).

Yes. As RPGs go theres few that worldbuild like MW.

I just cant play it by todays standards. I have to lean on my imagination to get immersed in the game and make up for where the gameplay/technology lacks.

Ive put many hours into it and enjoyed it and wouldnt turn anyone against playing it but for my money Id rather just play something that has the depth but also the technology to realize the world, characters, and gameplay to their fullest.

I'd also suggest keeping your expectations in check. As I said, the story is lackluster and there are some weird design choices that are pretty alienating to many players. For example, the save system only allows you to save when you sleep in an owned bed, or consume expensive liquor that makes you drunk.
