Do you lock your doors?

I've had to chase two people out over the past few years.
Always lock them now.

Why would you not lock your doors?

I used to just lock the door when I went to bed.
I was always taking my dog out, so during the day, I would leave them open.
One time, I just forgot, and someone came in at night.
Another someone just came in during the day. I had my pit by this time.
The look on his face was priceless as I stood up and my dog charged.

One guy locked himself in my downstairs bathroom and the other got bit the fuck up. My one dog just locked into his shoulder/collarbone area. The other guy couldnt figure out the child safety windows that I had so he was stuck in there till the cops got there. One of the cops was laughing his ass off. Thankfully my dogs loved my neighbor so he was able to call the dogs out because I was still a solid 20 minutes out.

His first known victim was killed while she was outside in her yard talking on the phone. He chose his second victim by trying doors. Monica Massaro was stabbed to death in her New Jersey home because her door was unlocked.

...

Chase, sometimes called The Vampire of Sacramento, told police he chose only victims whose doors were unlocked. He said he considered an unlocked door a sign that his victim wanted him to enter.

That's only 2 off a list of 9 after a quick google search.

Of course.

It's true that a determined burglar isn't going to be directly thwarted by a locked door, but it's also true that if said determined burglar is seen throwing a brick through a window, neighbors are more likely to call the police and you (if home) are more likely to realize there's trouble sooner.

I would also guess that a smart burglar realizes this and would go check other houses instead to see if they left their door unlocked.
