The last time I had their bread was really bad. It had no flavor.

Tastes better then the others and is also cheaper.
Why go to a chain and spend more then the littlest amount you could...especially when it tastes the beast of the bunch.
Heck sometimes I upgrade to the deep-dish. It's actually not bad! They also have good dips!

They've gotten so much better, especially the crust. I also like their topping choices the best (tomato + pineapple + feta or Philly steak + mushroom + green pepper). Domino's is not just good for chain pizza...it is delicious on its own merits, albeit super fattening and bad for you (like all cheap pizza places).

Papa John's fucking sucks, and I've had it numerous times over the years b/c it's the most common choice for when we have a luncheon at work unfortunately.
Haven't tried Little Caesar's in the past 20 years, maybe they got better like Dominos, but they were the worst of the four back then, easily.

They're not omnipresent anymore, but "full" dine-in restaurants are still around. They've also been making more "semi dine in" locations, for lack of a better term, with a small, more informal eating area.

If his pizza hut is anything like ours it may not be an exaggeration. I would probably get a dollar expired frozen pizza before I get pizza hut again. The last 2 times I went the pizza I got looked and tasted like they made it in the morning and threw it in the microwave when someone ordered it and then waited 15 minutes so it would be just above toom tempreture when served.

Sure, but that's probably the exception instead of the rule. But here's the thing. Domino's is a major pizza chain. Same for all those other ones. They got big and they did it because people ate their food. People came to their stores, sat down, decided that they'd love to have their pizza over making it themselves and over other people making their pizza, and ate the food before returning in the future. I'm not saying that this means that their food is, somehow, great. Rather that people acting like it's inedible burnt biscuits covered in cow blood and six-week old salami and the mere act of eating it will result in you throwing up unless you're a pig are PROBABLY being a bit unfair. Just a tad.

Domino's, but only by a little bit. Their quality is decent, the price is fair, but it is nothing I actively seek out.

Little Caesar's is cheap but the quality is sub-par. Probably just above frozen pizza if that. Papa Johns is OK, but nowhere close to worth the insane prices they charge for it. And Pizza Hut is shit, pure and simple. I would rather drink the grease left over from the fryer at Long John Silver's then eat another Pizza Hut "pizza".

This is why I usually choose them. I like their variety of pizza types. That spinach alfredo with chicken and mushrooms added is my favorite.

I can imagine a taste from when I was a kid of Pizza Hut pizza that was good. I can only imagine that taste eating in the place at a booth.
Everything from take-out is just not the same.

And now that I think about it yes, I can think of 1 dine-in that is still open about 25 minutes from my house.

There's another thing that people who hate chains rarely acknowledge: while the best local places are usually better than chain restaurants, the worst local places are usually worse than chain restaurants. There are a lot of really crappy local places. There's one local pizza place by me that has pizza that's like mediocre frozen pizza quality, that only seems to stay open because it's been around for generations and it's sorta' become "our" pizza.

True, but like I have literally 30 different pizza shops I could get to within 10 minutes.
Half could be terrible but that leaves 15 that are better then say Domino's.

Yea, but that is what experimentation is about, AKA leaving your comfort zone. When a new restaurant opens up the first thing I do (once the initial rush of customers dies down) is try it out. If it is bad, then I don't need to go back. If it is good, then I can add it to my list of places I will go to eat from time to time. There are plenty of pizza places in my area that I tried once and vow to never set foot into again (one my friends and I affectionately named "feetza") but I could also name off half a dozen that are actually really good that I never would have known about if I only ate at the big 4 listed in this topic, or even the local chains that are big enough to have advertising on local television.

I think most pizza places let's you order with less cheese or more sauce. So, you could probably do that... Though, you could also order it with no cheese... I believe that is an option...

I believe this also kinda depends on where you live and the pizza places. I don't think I have more than 15 pizza places(no more than 10 unique for sure and even that's generous) where I live. Meaning pickings are kind slim. Not counting places like subway where they also can sell you a pizza... In those situations, I think the big chains are usually a little higher.

But also, it depends on the local pizza places and your tastes, too. Even in a place with like 30 places, it's usually not that close to half. At least from my experience. Usually you have maybe 5 really good ones, 5-10 that are probably on par with big chains, and then the rest are kinda crappy... That's how it usually seems... But that also depends on where you live. Maybe you live in a place where most of the local places are good...

Papa John's used to be really good. Now it's hit or miss.

Pizza hut is the same way. They used to have the BEST pan pizza. Something is very different about it now.

I haven't had Domino's in a bout 10 years. That's the last time one was open in my area.

If I had to choose - at least I sometimes get a really good pizza at Papa Johns. The sauces are pretty good, too.

I too feel Papa John's has changed.

As for Domino's, I used to think they were completely tasteless (might as well have been eating cardboard and water.) But then they changed the recipe. It's more garlicky, but at least it's got flavor now.

I think it might depend on the area. It's not too bad here. I didn't really start buying it at first until I wanted something cheap and fast. But it's pretty ok. So, IDK. Or it might just be someone's taste. Honestly, I'm not too choosy as long as it tastes like pizza...

In the end, all those places offers different enough things that all of them stay in pretty good shape. And enough people buy from them that they stay open. I personally don't mind any of them, though...

I just had Dominoes last night for the first time in a long while. It was late and they were the only place in delivery distance still open.

It was just simole sausage, musbrooms and olices and was much better than I remember. Plenty of sauce, just enough cheese and lots of toppings.

I never understood the "love" pizza hut gets, but I have been told in the past that it's location.

It's no coincidence that Pizza Hut turned to crap when it stopped selling beer by the pitcher.
