the whole purification thing, konso I think, was cool. Then it 180'd and decided "You know what, let's just make these hollows human so that people who just started can forget the entire first arc but let's include hollow holes so people don't think we're just retconning it either." and after that every enemy has been humanoid

It definitely went downhill after the Soul Society arc. There were some cool bits after, but there was so much filler to wade through.
