Current Events > Tales of Symphonia deserved better than Dawn of the New World.

One of the greatest RPGs of all time followed by a lackluster game with:
-No world map.
-A rather dumb plot (did you really think Lloyd had turned evil?).
-A tacked-on monster-collecting mechanic, that's more trouble than it's worth.
-Too many party members (including the monsters and the ToS characters) when you can only take four into battle.
-The ToS characters don't level up except at certain points in the plot and cap out at Level 50; they also have far less customization options than before.
-Emil and Marta being awful characters.
-The localizers couldn't--or wouldn't--get most of the original voice cast back to reprise their roles.
-Overall a much shorter game than its predecessor.

The only good things were Tenebrae, and having voiced skits (which the original ToS apparently had in the Japanese version).

I understand that the main team was busy with Tales of Vesperia at the time, leaving it to the B-team to make this game, but still.

This confuses me too because in ToS Chronicles for PS3, they actually got the OG cast to voice the additional artes from the PS2 version (i.e. mystic artes for everyone, some altered artes), so it's like hey, why would they do something so easy for a quick buck instead of a whole game for what I'm sure would be a much better paycheck (proportionately speaking)

Well thank goodness for mods on the wii version since i can get rid of that level capnfor the original tos characters.
Yeah i really wished the game is what tales of vesperia shouldve been.

I'd recommend Berseria, but Zesty is hot trash

Berseria kinda traumatized me lol

As an RPG it's already pretty fucking dark

As a Tales game it's like Conker's Bad Fur Day
