If that was the case, sure. But its a historically black figure from Africa that takes place in Africa. It makes sense that the overwhelming majority of people in the film are black. Id think it odd if it were otherwise.

Yeah, thats what Im saying. The racial aspect mattered. Black Panther and his people had to be actual black people. It wouldnt have worked otherwise... although I guess Marvel could make another nation that is a different type of homogenous. Anyway, it also did not bother me one bit that it was a predominately black cast. I liked that they incorporated several tribes into the story.

I think it was a perfectly good MCU movie, with good casting and writing and so on.

And I think it was also a lot more than that, in all good ways. It showcased black actors and filmmakers.It presented a vision of a prosperous African state, as opposed to the tired and wrong idea that sub-Saharan Africa is one big shithole from coast to coast. And by the end spoilers it reckoned with the idea that great power should be used for good, for all, rather than horded or used for conquest.

So yeah, I totally understand why people were excited about it, and left it satisfied.

A movie with an entire black cast whose central character was created by two white guys 50 years ago?

I'm not sure what to think, other than to just enjoy the movie for what it is. So I guess my vote would be no.
