Ok, so, this has been kind of bothering me, and I want to talk about the implications.

At the beginning of the movie, He meets up with Nakia and they have a discussion. She tells T'Challa that Wakanda should use their resources and technology to help the poor and accept refugees and how can Wakanda just stand by in prosperity while everyone else suffers and basically he rejects that idea outright.

He eventually changes his mind on the subject, but not until after being confronted about it by Killmonger.

Now, it seems that the biggest factor involved in changing his mind was the fact that Killmonger essentially grew up poor with no parents and nothing.

Yet, when he breaks into Nakia's parade, he's literally breaking apart a fucking human trafficking ring with child soldiers and everything.

But apparently none of that matters. Only that Killmonger had a rough childhood? Why wasn't Nakia's argument strong enough?

He's a guy that T'Challa literally never even fucking met. He was more torn up about being lied to by his father than the fact that he had a cousin he never knew about.

My guess is because Killmonger put an actual face to the adversity that T'Challa hadn't considered, plus he was an example of the negative effect that turning your back on others could have on Wakanda.

Because he didn't care about outsiders in the beginning when he got to Nakia. By the end he did.

It's called character development.

Where BP's learning this lesson is literally the whole movie, and it ties into the whole tradition vs innovation motif, insufficient time and focus is given to Finn's development, to the point that a lot of his dramatic scenes feel undeserved and things just kind of 'happen' around him.

Killmonger was a problem caused by the isolationist policy. The trafficking was not.

Because learning what went down and how it resulted in Killmonger was a far more personal example because it was caused by his own father and Zuri, and by extension Wakanda. It showed him just how wrong he was. I mean hell, just look at how much he freaked out on his dad the second time he went to the afterlife.

Killmonger's ideals amounted to imperialism, colonialism, and black supremacy.

Less of a civil war, since it didn't extend to civilians, and more of constitutional crisis, with the Dora Milaje supporting whomever held the crown according to tradition, and one of the tribes supporting the reigning king for political reasons, even when tradition would have demanded two potential heirs finish the succession ritual before resuming with their plans.
