Because that doesn't describe Cecil, Terra/Celes/Locke, Cloud, or Tidus at all, and the first FF game doesn't really have characters. It also doesn't sound like FF12 or 13. FF6 is a little different since it's not so much about having a main character. They all had issues to deal with. But if you want to call Tera the main character, she didn't know her identity and broke free of the empire's control, so did Celes. Cloud and Tidus...are you joking? Cloud literally was living someone else's life. He was doing something at the beginning of the game that was small compared to the real danger. He ventures out into the world, finds love (loses love) and saves the world with his newfound friends after being cold to people. And Tidus? He was literally living in a dream world and was given a chance at real life.
