It's pretty simple let me summarize. Naruto, and all shinobi are actually alien/human hybrids that are basically running rampant around the world which used to be inhabited by non-shinobi humans. The main character, Naruto, whose main motive was to overcome his mediocrity and earn the title of leader of the village through hard work dedication, is actually a reincarnation of a son of the one of the most powerful shinobi ancestors and was actually destined for greatness since the start so it didn't really matter. Also Rock Lee gave up on overcoming genius with hard work.
