I could do 2 and get about halfway back up on the third when I was 18/19. Haven't really worked out since I was 20ish so prob not anymore.

Ok mead. You don't have to be so teste that you can't do one. There is no shame in using a wall to help with balance. Ask any trainer. Sure being able to do one without is cool but not a requirement. The goal is actually to do the push up.

But you'll probably respond with something else super salty.

Then why did you even mention the caveat?

You need good core strength for balance so obviously someone that can do a handstand in the middle of a room and do pushups is physically more impressive that someone that has to balance their body against something

You could have made this topic differently and just say that you felt accomplished or that you did a cool thing and it wouldnt have been nearly as cringeworthy as what we have here

I haven't done them in years. I used to do them against a wall with a friend in the back in the warehouse at an old job I had.

Also, definitely not THE most badass exercise, or even the most badass calisthenic exercise. I'd argue all of these are just as much if not more badass:

Plance Push-ups
Muscle Ups
Pistol Squats
Front / Back Levers

Muscle ups are undoubtedly more badass imo and the others are about equal. I will tell you, the only ones of those I can do are vertical push ups and pistol squats. I was training to muscle ups last year but it was interfering with my powerlifting meet prep so I stopped and never got back to them.

Also, you said they are THE most badass exercise. And just because some article you posted said they're "one of" the most badass exercises, doesn't mean they are THE most badass exercise.

I'd also argue other non calisthenic exercises are more badass, like the barbell side press, or a deadlift with triple your bodyweight.
