gun control advocates most of the time propose either things that wont work or arnt realistic in this country. so in turn you have the other side ignoring them and generally everything stays in a standstill. even small proposals are shot down because they come across as ignorant of the subject most of the time. and in general it will never really stop because the people who make the rules and laws are the ones who want guns gone and if something doesnt fix an issue you can bet they will be back. this has been proven both in our states and in many other countries. it sounds cliche at this point, but the slippery slope isnt paranoia. to change it all youd need to change the constitution which would require 3/4th of congress making it nearly impossible especially with how divided we are now.

The Founding Fathers were grown adults that wanted to give Americans a right to defend their country against the crown.
They couldnt even dream that Americans would turn guns into a religion that turned underage kids running around in school and shooting other students and teachers multiple times a month into something acceptable.

USA need more social nets that captures people and helps them before they get desperate/crazy enough to pick up a gun. But the American soul wont allow that, because helping others is communism and the only good red is a dead red.
And it will take lots of money, effort and time before we start seeing a difference. The American soul is bad at waiting. It will abandon it one week later at the next school shooting, because it didnt work.

It's a basic right as an American. I carry. You cry about guns but schools have done hardly anything to keep the kids safe. No guards. Teachers can't carry. A lot are without metal detectors.

Is that the new normal now? Schools are just expected to be filled with guards and metal detectors? Like school operates like a prison now?

Not to mention our education system barely gets the money it needs, so how are these even going to be implemented disregarding the ridiculousness of it.

Theres really not a great solution either way. Im absolutely pro-gun, and its a constitutional right to own one. It was so important you dont even have to scroll down to see it if you look up the Bill of Rights on your phone. The Founding Fathers held this right as one of the most fundamental to the nation.

The fact that its all but carved in stone, the Second Amendment isnt going anywhere. We need to look to what other alternatives there are to help prevent instances like this. Admittedly, I really dont have a great solution. But repealing an Amendment, much less one of the original 10, is never going to happen.

There's no monetary gain in helping people, there's a massive amount of money to be gained in a frightened populace and Gun sells always go up when things like this happen. So if anything is going to happen, it's going to be a roll back on already existing gun restrictions
