Imagine the guy in the checkout line who yells GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY having a handgun on him 24/7.

Imagine the type of person who cant keep their cellphone screen from cracking having a handgun in their purse.

Enlighten me as to why people like that should be able to be in public with guns.

Because tons of people responsibly carry with no incident?

Like how many crimes have been committed by someone who had conceal carry that they wouldn't have just illegally had a gun otherwise?

Conversely, how many people have stopped a robbery, rape, murder, loitering, etc, by having a concealed weapon? I know a couple people that were attempted mugged in a parking lot or whatever but the guy ran off once they saw the gun.

Why concealed? It's like people don't want others to know about their guns so there's a higher chance of being put in a position to have to use them.

Two, people live in areas where there is a possibility to be jumped, mugged, raped, etc. Concealed carry isn't just for the often mocked and hypothetical scenario of stopping a mass shooting--it is for self defense. Not everyone is physically capable of taking on someone who intends to harm them, or the attacker has a weapon, or multiple threats.

Exactly. And like in my examples, no one fires a shot, just it being revealed is a pretty good deterrent.

The only remotely logical reason I can come up with is that if someone trying to harm you, others, or committing a crime near you, they won't see the gun. So you might have the element of surprise

Ok, whats the correlation here? If someone is a ticking time bomb they're going to end up hurting someone wether they can carry or not

And are you okay if they open carry since you never mentioned it?

I didn't even understand that part because it was so oddly typed.

I guess he was saying someone could go on a killing spree if they saw that their phone was cracked and they had a gun?

Such a bizzare scenario to come up with and one that doesn't even make any sense when paired with the original question

You want them to think "This guy isn't armed and that means he's a good target!" and then you get to hurry up and shoot him.

Them being able to see that you have one would also help to prevent an altercation, but that's not as fun.

So, the prez has been documented hiring tons of illegals and what-not. If you live in the states, it's very prevalent.

On topic: I don't understand the whole concealed carry thing. Most people argue that it'll take the attacker by surprise. Fine. I get that, but wouldn't openly carrying your weapon deter someone from attacking you in the first place?

To me, a concealed carry for a citizen just seems like these people want to stroll around with this huge "gotcha" moment.

It's pretty obvious. Having a gun out in the open generally makes people nervous and would make day to day interactions with other people awkward.

Are you sure thats his argument?

Doesn't really hold up when he's talking about drawing the gun on someone ringing a person up or how they could be "ticking time bombs"

Plus you can take great care of your phone, but that doesn't mean accidents don't happen. With that logic if a person dropped their phone they shouldn't be able to own a gun? It still doesn't make sense

I wouldn't give my gun to a fictional character, no.

And who said anything about dropping their phone left and right?

Besides there being no correlation between the two, you're saying you have to basically lead a perfect life to own a gun. Its illogical and does nothing to help your point

Regardless most people who conceal carry are going to know how to handle their gun because they've trained with it. Its not really relatable to a cell phone. Something which doesn't have a handle

Yeah, most every gun that's sold nowadays is drop-safe. Unless you're carrying around a single-action revolver with a bullet on the hammer, dropping a gun won't set it off.
