Dude used a cell phone screen being cracked as a reason why conceal carry shouldnt be a thing.

L O fucking L

So glad you have come out and posted "never take me seriously"

I didn't even understand that part because it was so oddly typed.

I guess he was saying someone could go on a killing spree if they saw that their phone was cracked and they had a gun?

Such a bizzare scenario to come up with and one that doesn't even make any sense when paired with the original question

He prolly thinks you have to text first then shoot so maybe the gun having a cracked screen would cause a misfire. I'm actually pretty bummed i forgot to put my gun on the charger last night and now it has low battery

Are you two being purposefully obtuse? His argument is that if you can't take care of a phone, why should it be a good idea to put a lethal weapon into your hands?

Thank god some brains in this topic.

People in this topic are just making an argument for having guns in general, not for concealed carry, which is what this topic is about. Why should concealed carry be allowed in addition to open carry?

People who are ok with hurting innocent people will also be ok with carrying their gun concealed regardless of what the law is

And a woman who just wants to be able to defend herself in a dangerous part of town shouldn't have to sling a gun around her skirt.

People who want to commit burglary will do so regardless of what the law is, so what's even the point in keeping it illegal?

ITP: All women only wear skirts, even when going to a "dangerous part of town", and it's enough of an inconvenience for women to sling a gun around her skirt, which is also the only way a woman can possibly open carry a gun, that it warrants concealed carry.

So you're afraid of them dropping the gun when the probability of a loaded gun going off when dropped is extremely small? That's a non-issue.

Regardless, most people who conceal carry are going to know how to handle their gun because they've trained with it. It's not really relatable to a cell phone. Something which doesn't have a handle.

You don't know very many accident prone people, do you?

Sounds like you're dismissing my facts and trying to interject some anecdotal evidence.

Thertes zero reason why it should be illegal

And again i dont want to go to jail for having my gun in a holster under my jacker in the winter. Or in its carry case closed on my passenger seat while going on a hunt.

Theres zero reason why it should be illegal and no people dropping their cell phone is not a reason

I'd like to talk more about open carry vs concealed carry.

The benefits of conceal carry hypothetically come from the idea that if conceal carry exists, any would be criminal is less likely to commit a crime as anyone could be carrying a gun. This is the same sort of thing you see with protecting your car with "The Club" vs Lowjack. The Club makes your car less likely to be stolen at the cost of other cars, whereas the existence and use of lowjack makes everyone's cars less likely to be stolen.

It seems in practice though that the low % rate of conceal and carry leads to a different type of phenomenon where they occasionally end crimes in progress but rarely seem to prevent crimes. In this area, open carry would seem to be a more effective crime deterrent.

No. Someone who doesnt take care of their property is irresponsible. Youre really trying to make that fact something else and thats weird.
