Ideally settle somewhere with great schools, but those places are ridiculously expensive, like Cupertino or saratoga for example. And the nicer the area, the more I'd have to sacrifice living space and having a nice house and stuff.

But I dunno. I've lived in the north east, southwest, just doesn't compare. The culture is so rich in the bay. Its really something different.

This. I'm born and raised in the Bay Area and live on the Peninsula now, and it just keeps getting worse. I'm more willing to move out of the Bay Area now than I've ever been.

I live in Los Gatos, it's a pretty great little town. All the surrounding areas are pretty close (SF, Santa Cruz, Monterey, even Tahoe isn't too far of a drive)

I visited a friend in Berkely over the weekend a while back. Place was lit. Granted part of that was the change in pace from small town Alaska but I loved it. There's people everywhere, food everywhere, and the place just felt alive.

Granted I was visiting so I didn't have to deal with most of the downsides like rent or traffic
