It's not a bad movie. It's a good piece of entertainment, I enjoyed myself watching it. It's not the best SW film, but as a blockbuster it's fine.

I think part of the problem has less to do with the content and more with the technical execution. The film has lots of medium and close up shots, it makes the film feel small, cramped and kinda cheap.

It worked well in ESB, but even Empire found moments to have wider angles and sweeping shots that gave it a sense of scale and wonder. It allowed the epic moments to feel epic. A lot of TLJ feels flat, even the action moments don't see to have that sweeping feel to them. I think it's what hurts the movie and causes it to "not feel like SW". Everything else worked for me, except Space Leia that I'll admit is dumb AF

i thought it was underwhelming and boring at times... that whole trip to the casino "world" was just mindnumbingly boring.

the end was cool though.

Rian's directing was great. Hyperspeed explosion in mute is definitely the coolest scene Disney has given us in a Star Wars film. If he followed the continuity JJ wanted, then I don't think there would have been any complaints

I mean, come on guys... Attack of the Clones was SCIENTIFICALLY shit, right? There's basically no metric you can use to say TLJ is worse than episode 2.

I felt there was WAY more CGI usage in The Last Jedi

I remember reading that JJ Abrams or whoever was trying to use more practical effects in The Force Awakens, and I think they did a good job of that for the most part (same with Rogue One). But in The Last Jedi there was a lot of CGI (that didn't even try to look real, like all the animals).

The Leia scene was stupid, but worst of all was the out of place humor. My biggest issue with the movie by far.

I went into it fully expecting to hate it, even as a long time Star Wars fan. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low, but I really liked it. Their was certainly some dumb shit, but there's been dumb shit in all the movies.

Yeah AotC is the GOAT SHIT sw film. I'm actually in the minority that prefers TPM as the "best" of the PT.

TLJ is still better than anything in the PT. It's definitely behind TFA for me, but on par with RO in that both have their problems and drag in certain parts, but the high points of both movies are some of the highest points of the saga imo

But some people do act THAT upset about it.

Like I liked the movie. Other didn't like it, that's cool with me.

But then others didn't like it and go on these 5,000 word rants about how terrible it is and acting like every little thing they didn't like was a massive problem with the movie. Like, just chill out. I watch a lot of movies and don't like a good deal of them, but I pretty much just say I didn't like it and go on with my day.
