Well that was a slog towards the end. Pretty good overall though (my first Persona game)

I just gave up during the Okumura boss fight, and read up on the rest of the story

I felt that once I got to the Burger palace.
The game took a big nosedive after that imo and never really recovered

Yeah, it really could've trimmed those last 20 hours out imo. The ending slog really left a bad taste in my mouth. It is still fun despite its pacing problems tho, but I liked 3 and 4 more >_>

I could understand how the last stretch is a slog, but at least you get free healing out of the deal. The part I didn't like (and only found out that day) was turning personae into items was a one-a-day thing. It would've been nice to offload some of those black rocks and stuff for NG+. I ended up wasting the daily itemize thing on Haru's grenade launcher instead of something useful, lol.

You don't have to actually date any of the girls. That's just a byproduct of strengthening the relationship with your teammates which, in turn, increases their battle abilities and the types of bonuses you get when fusing. You could neglect (some) annoying characters the whole game if you wanted.

i like and greatly appreciate all of the recent/relevant persona games (3, 4, 5)

half of the gameplay is absolutely a dating sim in each and every one

Game took a massive nosedive around August/September with the Space palace. Picked back up with the Casino palace. Then, took another nosedive towards the end of the game.

I had no problems with the endgame. I didn't think it felt like a slog at all. In fact, compared to P4G I felt like the endgame went by *too* fast.

I take more issue with the fact that the game's English translation isn't the best. It was a slop compared to P3 and 4 which is a shame, especially for Atlus, but I think it's only really an issue in the early game. Also didn't like how none of the villains after Kamoshida really match up to him, but Futaba's arc was really good. And there weren't enough slice of life segments in the story, like the Hawaii trip, and the game is too railroady for the first palace or two. Oh yeah, and Shido is one of the weakest villains in the series; really disappointing main antagonist.

It was a great game though and I still look back on it pretty fondly. I need to give it a second playthrough and try to max all Confidants.

I will also say that P5 had the second best endgame, I think (first being P3), and I really loved the whole final dungeon segment. I thought the whole thing, atmosphere and all, was done really well.
