i still think the greatest moment i had in this game was when i was co-oping with a buddy, he went to fight an invader so i wouldn't have to.

he died pretty quick so i was like fuuuuuuuuuuu i'm doomed.

invader bowed all that jazz to me, and then he swung.

i parried it perfectly for the first time in my life and one-shot him with the riposte.

She can be. My advice is to ignore the summons. Like if she summons Velly, of course make sure he doesn't hit you, but focus her down instead of taking him down first. With the skeletons its much the same, though I guess taking down one or two of them might make it more managable.

I've been trying it with the two NPC summons but apparently that gives her more health. I'll try it solo.

I'm using a +10 dark infused red iron twinblade... not sure if she's dark resistant since she uses hexes. Any ideas on best weapons against her? I have 40 st, 40 int/fth and 20 dex. Can respec if needed since it seems like magic got nerfed in DLC and that's all I have left in the game.

I've used greatsword+10 all throughout my DkS2 experience. It's good, but I don't know anything about weapon variety.

I can't imagine Elanna is not massively dark resistant, though. Both for visual and lore reasons.

Elana is one of the strongest bosses in the game. Don't summon AI. When you summon phantoms, enemies and especially bosses get more durable (for each phantom), and they will also hit harder, and have more poise. Bosses in the DLC almost all will also cycle aggression, so they will never focus on one opponent for very long. Further, Elana is quite possibly the single most well-equipped boss in Souls to deal with a host who summoned help. If you're going to summon help, make it humans, and hope they know what they're doing very well.

Magic is sort of nerfed in the DLC. Spell damage is reduced, but just spells. So things like lightning/soul spear, or dark orb, those do reduced damage. Magic damage, like just on a melee weapon or from a buff, that is unaffected.

Elana doesn't particularly have a weakness from what I recall though you'd not want to use dark on her.

An ideal melee setup would be something fast with high DPS for Elana, and then something with strike damage for her summons. The skeletons don't take much to kill if you've got a good strike damage weapon.

A rapier or dagger with ring of blades and Sacred Oath and if you have the space for it, Sunlight Blade too, going in with all that you can put out a lot of DPS if you know her openings and can just fill it with as many R1s as you can safely. You won't get much opportunity to recast buffs once the fight starts though except after her AoE if you got out of range.

You could also try Defender's Greatsword if you have it, though you might need to bring repair powder too. Its self buff makes it a pretty powerful faith greatsword.

Then again sticking with what you're comfortable with might be best. So, red iron twinblade can work. It does have good DPS potential but, yeah, you're gonna need to remove the dark infusion for her. She is a fragment of Manus. Dark's not gonna work.

I used Pursuers Sword on her. The wide swings helped catch the skellies in with attacks on her.

She was pretty easy. She leaves plenty of openings. Just have to babysit the camera and make sure youre ready to dodge her spells after she teleports.

If you sprint in hard you get some free hits at the beginning too.

Does the Pursuer Greatsword combo a shield hit if you're using the Pursuer Greatsword as well?

I love the look of that combo when you're fighting him.

I did ittttt.

I did lost sinner with sunlight blade. Hit like a tank, did half her health in damage in my first combo at the start of the match. After that what worked well for me was leaving one skeleton alive. Was able to kite it around and pay attention to both of them without worrying about velstad.

Sunlight blade + dark red iron twinblade completely shredded Sinh after her. Did the DLC. I really enjoyed the fight between the three dudes in that optional area, where you bring two NPCs.

On eleum right now. Fire longsword +10 + stone ring = domination against all these ice dudes.

Nice job on the dragon. I had a little trouble with him until a dropped my shield and just went all in two handed.

Chopping his tail off gives nothing. Iirc it lowers the range of his tail swipe but not completely

Dark Souls II doesnt have tail cut drops like DS1 has.

Ivory king complete. Just have iron king left. Gonna try leveling the Ice Rapier and using that for the last dlc.

There's a door with things to light with a torch outside it you couldn't light with the snowstorm up. Lighting them opens the door. In there you find the garrison key which opens a gate a ice lance knight dude was guarding with some zombies. Inside is a bonfire and a coffin that you get inside and it will take you to one of the worst designed Souls areas in all 5 games.

A lot of people never go through there, and far fewer do it solo.

If you want an easy time, and to do it yourself: get a great hammer, put on stone ring, get to the first building where the Mirrah hat is, then hug the left side. You should never face more than one enemy at a time and the great hammer pancake R2 with stone ring should allow you to basically lock them down once you get one hit in (just has to be a great hammer with the pancake R2 opener when two-handed).

It's slower than hugging the right side but the right side can pit you against two at once which is almost assured death.

Like I said, you can join cov of champs and farm effigies from the dogs really quick by mcduff. I pop them like candy. Not worth using up a ring slot on it IMO.

It's more that DS2 sucks at parrying. They made the timing quite unreasonable. IIRC Parrying Dagger was one of the more favorable parry frames, if you were more used to the on-reaction timing of DS and DS1.
