He stopped the shut down for just an agreement to talk about the Dreamers, which will basically never get through the House. So he basically got nothing in exchange for re-opening the government.

Trump offered Dems a deal that would give them a path to citizenship - 3 times more of them than Obama ever protected with DACA.

He's also provisionally agreed to a 2-year budget in exchange for stuff like disaster relief funding and spending caps. Nothing at all about the Dreamers, aside from McConnell's previous assurance there would be a vote in the Senate on the matter(which is utterly meaningless if Paul Ryan doesn't agree to vote on it in the House). If they pass a budget, they basically give up what little leverage they have until 2019.

Nancy Pelosi putting some work for Trump.

I generally agree, but since Republicans control both chambers, attaching it to a must-pass bill is the only way to bring it to a vote since Republicans refuse to do so otherwise (despite their repeated promises). With the first deportations of the so-called Dreamers less than a month away, it's kind of urgent to get something done.

DACA shouldn't have been a thing in the first place. It should have been done through Congress instead of executive order. Trump's decision to end it is a catalyst to get it addressed the proper way.

The thing is the Republicans don't control both houses. The only have a simple majority in the Senate. Not enough to prevent Democrat obstruction.

From CNN's source, "The source said she was wearing four-inch-heels while delivering the speech and only sipped water."

No mentions of bathroom breaks. Speech ended up being 8 hours. I find it really unbelievable someone almost 80 went 8 hours without using the bathroom. So, uhh.. >_>

This is the same thing as saying they want open borders. When we last granted amnesty back in the mid 80s, we were supposed to increase our border security such that we would never again need to grant amnesty. For a number of reasons, we chose not to enforce the law. Republicans wisely see the folly in granting amnesty again. They are essentially putting themselves out of a job. By and large Hispanics are democrats. I dont think the democratic position is one of humanitarianism but rather one of future survival.
