Because standing for the anthem is respectful

Therefore not standing is not respectful

Like going "Why is eating food disrespectful!?"

It's not, but if a family invites you over and prepares you a big delicious dinner, then says grace. If instead of bowing your head and saying grace you ignore them and pork out eating steaks, then that is disrespectful.

Don't blame them. They grew up in a culture where the American flag is a part of their identity. It is incredibly irrational to put the rights of a piece of cloth before peoples' rights, but their minds are close-minded and all we can do is hope they see the error of their perspective one day.

If Im invited to dinner and told my host how shit his cooking is, thats disrespectful right? Similarly, if youre gonna kneel for the anthem because you want to say how shitty America is, then its disrespectful. It doesnt matter if what youre saying is true, its not customary or polite, therefore its disrespectful. Make sense?

Depends. If I bring over dessert because I want to show appreciation to my host for inviting me, then its considered a nice thing to do. If people want to change colors of the flag because they want to show how they appreciate it in their own unique way, its not coming from a negative place, therefore not disrespectful. If people wanted to change the color of the flag because they want to symbolize how shitty America is, thats a different story. Much like if I brought dessert because I wanted to upstage my host showing who makes better dessert in front of the guests, that would be disrespectful to my host.

The two are not mutually exclusive. Indeed, one of the most important parts of freedom of speech is the freedom to be disrespectful. It would be wrong to eg. arrest them for it. There's nothing wrong with calling them out for it.

Yeah I'll agree that there's nothing necessarily wrong with calling them out, since again, this is America and they are using that same freedom to call them out on it without getting in trouble. But it is a bit hypocritical to voice one's opinion on someone else voicing their opinion.

if that makes sense

I get what you're saying, but I disagree. I'd say it's part of the whole point - free speech is not just a right to have your own opinion, but a right to question, debate and attack others' opinions too. I'd even go as far as to say that that's the biggest reason to support it - so that all ideas can be discussed, and the bad ones can be shot down simply by pointing out why they're bad. The fact that good ideas will inevitably be attacked too is simply a necessary side effect - and maybe even a good one, considering that what's a "good idea" is often arbitrary and the standards of defining such often change over time.

They are desecrating an image of the flag; many times they do this to support police some of which have killed innocent Americans. That are not doing to say we support all Americans equally. Are that equal rights should be a thing. It is government agents counter protesting people saying hey stop killing us.

If kneeling wasn't disrespectful, the privileged rich people who knelt would have done so to the British and Mexican flags at the games in London and Mexico City.

They specifically chose to stand for those flags and anthems because they didn't want to disrespect the people of those countries.
