5/5. One of my all-time favorite gaming memories was when my mom had a dental check-up when I was in second grade, and they had a Sega Genesis w/ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hooked up in the waiting room. I'd spent the entire last summer wanting to play Sonic 1 & 2 on the Sega Genesis they had hooked up at my day care, but the older kids had the thing on lock & I only got to play the two games for like ten minutes total the whole summer, so having unlimited access to it for the hour or so that my mom was in the dentist's office was really fun.

Also, the game's graphics were insane for their time. It's still hard for me to believe it was a 1992 release, sometimes.

why Sonic 2 over 3&K?

As a Sonic 2 fan, here's why I feel Sonic 2 is better than 3K

-levels dont feel overly long
-levels are generally more fun and interesting
-art direction just tickles my fancy better.
-music is better
-special stages are simpler to find and more satisfying to win(blue spheres is ugly and clunky)

And specifically, Sonic 3 has Hydro City, Carnival Night, and Marble Zone, none of which I particularly care for.

Sonic 2 was the one Genesis sonic game I didn't own and would frequently rent for whatever reason.

It has a better flow than either of the others; the only real downswing is Metropolis Zone which is really annoying and too long, but otherwise it's more consistent to me than Sonic 1 or Sonic 3.
