It already had an explanation though in the lore, and the covert Tagruato search for the satellite that fell is specifically what got Clovers attention.

And if you want to retcon it to be the Shepard, then you have to account for Clover monsters already being around, or just saying its a third reality altogether, which is essentially pointless

Im half joking BTW. Yes I was big into Cloverfield lore but Im by no means married to it.

My only point is that the entire plot thread on Earth was 100% pointless to the movie except to set up an unrelated money shot at the end

Didn't really like it. The start was great and it had some good moments (like the severed arm) but felt like a dull late 90s/early 00s sci-fi movie the longer it went.

Also the husbands plea at the end makes no sense to me. Yes its a bad scene on Earth, but society is still functioning enough to have people manning NASA stations, so I would think it must be better than dying in space.

Mudbound is best American movie of 2017.

Anyway it's out now.

Well I certainly wouldn't go nearly that far, but they have made some good films. Their hit rate is roughly 50%. But given the amount of effort they've put in and how much better Amazon seem to be doing it they should be doing better.

Anyway, finished it. Really good first half, second half was a total mess, then the final scene was great. It was well shot and well paced, worth a watch but easily the weakest of the three.

People in charge of this franchise never stop doing these films or marketing them like this. But hopefully the already filmed fourth one is better!

Definitely had fun with the film, but it was the weakest of the trilogy. I definitely like the Twilight Zone vibe the films are going for now though.

Still want some slusho though.

I probably say like 6/10 after sitting on it. Moments I enjoyed but it left me wanting. Still hopeful for the franchise.

why did the worms end up inside of that one guy, and the compass, and why did this not kill him immediately

why did they remain on their own station but somehow have access to the logs from the other station

why did jensen end up on their ship but no one else from the original crew did

why did random stuff happen like the airlock flooding with water or the maintenance rig becoming randomly magnetized and actively trying to kill that dude

seems like they just used 'parallel reality' as a free license to do away with any sort of logic, even internal logic, that would cause anything in this movie to make sense. instead of having a primary antagonist they opted to just have random scenes where the station kills the people on it for seemingly no reason.
like most horror films this was a complete mess in terms of writing that made absolutely no sense and was overall less enjoyable as a result. I still give it a 6/10 because there were some good scenes and character interactions.

that was a lot of movie to sit through in order to see only 2 seconds of monster not doing anything at the end.

Youre basically right although I would say they were using a very pop-science interpretation of quantum entanglement as the excuse for anything happening

yeah my complaints were completely with the internal logic being nonexistent. the fact that the science of the movie had nothing to do with real life science is just par for the course and not anything that would usually hinder my enjoyment.

if they are going to continue buying spec scripts and shoehorning in cloverfield stuff after the fact, they are going to need to make sure they are actually buying good base scripts

the cellar was a good one to adapt, god particle was not

yeah 10 cloverfield lane was great, and everything that happened in that movie made logical sense.

this movie could've been helped a lot by better writing. there was some weak acting too but it was decent enough. improving the acting would not have helped the bad script. but improving the bad script could have made the movie a lot better, even with having only a few acting moments that shined.
