Maybe football depending on the position you play. Everyone is super specialized into one role.

Offensive lineman is probably the simplest but I just know it can't be "easy".

Basketball by far...literally anyone can pick it up and try to play. Not saying its easy to be good, but its easier then the others.

Football requires conditioning, speed, strength, hands and ball skills(for skill positions).

Baseball requires excellent hand/eye coordination.

Hockey requires a combination of football and baseball, plus you need to be able to ice skate well.

Lol, baseball literally takes the most skill. Not the most athleticism but by far the most skilll.

Football and basketball are more dependent on athleticism than skill. That's why football specifically has many "non skill positions" and for basketball you just have to be tall And mobile

Define "play"

You mean at all or profressionally?

Because literally anyone can play basketball. Literally people in wheelchairs play basketball.

But actually being GOOD at it? Probably baseball.

Basketball is based mostly on athleticism, so elite athletes from any sport can play if for the first time and be pretty good. Most of the defensive and skill NFL positions are the same way. So the answer is probably basketball.

Baseball and Hockey require the most specialized sets of skills. Baseball probably the most so. We saw Michael Jordan -- arguably the best athlete in the world at the time -- look overmatched in the White Sox minor league games during his baseball stint.

Anybody can pick up any of these sports and play, so that's a non-answer. These are all games I used to play in PE class when I was like 7.

Basketball requires a healthy mix of athleticism and skill. You can be high-flying and explosive by playing above the rim, or you can use your mastery of footwork and ball handling to put your defender on skates.

I think people aren't giving basketball enough credit. It's not like it doesn't require any coordination to handle the ball and it's so very fast-paced and you need pretty precise coordination to make shots as well.

I do agree that hockey is the most skill-based though definitely.

The least skill based would probably be certain positions in football I guess.

I picked baseball. I've played all those sports on organized teams except football. That was more of a backyard thing. But I did 10 years of little league and it was by far the most boring and easiest sport I played. As long as you can hit the ball when your at bat your pretty much golden. Basketball is easiest to get into because the gear can be miles less expensive than other sports with Baseball being second.

Only player with any real gear in Baseball would be the catcher.

I never played on an organized team. All depends on the position I guess. Linebacker is gonna be easier compared to QB. The trick is getting everyone to do their job for those few seconds a play is active

Baseball doesn't require any sort of athleticism. It's about as much of a "sport" as e-sports. It's all hand eye muscle memory from decades of practice. As far as skill, it depends. You can just stand on the field and shoot the shit with fans all day if a ball doesn't come your way.

All that being said, it has the highest floor of those sports for necessary skill to make the game look like it's supposed to go.

Here's a quick side note on baseball.

If you're an outfielder, and you snag a grounded ball, and need to spin and throw, your window of accuracy is incredibly slim.

How slim?

Well, throwing that ball and releasing it from your grip .002 seconds early or late, can mean as much as 10' of variation in the target.

When you're going to hit a pitch, for the last 15' of distance between the mound and you, the ball is moving so fast that you cannot actually see it. Within half a second of the pitch, you need to aim a 3' long bat within 1/2" vertically in order to get a good vertical angle. The timing is within thousandths of a second to get a good lateral aim on the ball.

But oh yeah, some weeb who plays his Nintendo switch all day said baseball is easy on GFAQs.

hitting a ball in baseball is more difficult than throwing a football

diving for a ball that's shooting by you is more difficult than catching a football

baseball only looks easy at the highest professional level. compare a high school baseball game to a high school football game. you're way more likely to see good plays in football at that level than in baseball, because it's just easier for everyone to pick up.
