Metallica in 2009 is number one. I was at the stage and Robert pointed at me and threw me a pick. Also got a beach.

Green Day was great as well, Billie Joe posed for a picture for my wife.

Knotfest is fun every year

Against Me! january 31st, 2014.

Not only did I get a front row spot, the show was super awesome and at the end of it I caught one of Atom Willard's drum sticks(but two other guys latched on at once. one of them said "friends, no need to fight. lets rock paper scissors for it), and overall an awesome show.

Second best is Whole Wheat Bread in 2010 or so. I dont know what it was but they killed it live. songs I didnt even enjoy by them were given new life and sounded great.

Cant think of too many others at the moment

I've only been to two concerts that I wanted to be at. Out of those two I have to say hands down that GWAR was my favorite. And not just because I almost died at the Slayer concert.

Back in 2003 I saw Powerman 5000 and RA at a fairly small venue, I was really into both bands at the time so i had a blast and after the show the singer from powerman cane and and just talked to us for a while so that was cool. Stone Sour was one of the headliners too, but they suck.

I also saw The Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age back in 2000, that was my first concert and I was too timid to go close to the stage(had just turned 15) so I hanged towards the very back.

Probably top 5 for me:

1. Mayhem fest with Slipknot headlining. Just so many awesome bands, Slipknot, and fucking Motorhead on the same ticket was just insane, not to mention we also got to see Anthrax, Slayer, and a ton of other bands. Also, my future wife getting punched in the face in the pit makes a good story.

2. Alter Bridge with Black Stone Cherry and Like a Storm. I'm not a Black Stone Cherry fan, but their singer / guitarist was impressive as fuck, he reminded me of like Jack Black mixed with Jimi Hendrix. Alter Bridge was amazing, and Like a Storm were surprisingly good. It also was one of the first dates me and my now wife went on.

3. Slash & Myles Kennedy with The Last Internationale. We were right up front at a small venue, and actually got to shake hands with Myles. My wife is a huge fan, and he actually hugged her from over the guard rail. I also caught one of the bassist's picks, and it was just an overall great show.

4. Queens of the Stone Age & Royal Blood. The most recent show I've been to, it was a few months back. Awesome show, I was a fan of both bands beforehand, but not a massive fan, but the show made me like them both a lot more. We had shitty standing lawn tickets in a huge venue, but their sound was great for both bands, and despite the shit tier tickets we still thoroughly enjoyed the show.

5. Breaking Benjamin & Starset. Starset was meh, but Breaking Benjamin is an old favorite of mine from years back and sounded awesome live. It was nostalgic. We were also right up at the front of the venue. BB played several covers surprisingly well, including 2 Tool songs, which was a welcome surprise.

Oh man, that is entirely up my alley.

I haven't been to a lot of concerts. I want to see them a lot more often... Someday.

My favorites...

Like Zang said, Manowar. I had never been physically abused by music like that in my life. That's what you get from the self proclaimed loudest band on earth.

Jethro Tull. I love Jethro Tull, and it was a small venue, and that rock flute sounded amazing the whole time.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The violinists were insaaaane and the fire effects were heating up my face at the best parts of the songs.

1) Thee Oh Sees. I've seen them about 10 times. They have so much energy, it's amazing. They're all really laid back people too

2) My Bloody Valentine. 2008/9ish and again in 2012. Great fucking show, was really loud. I wore earplugs but still had ringing for three days afterwards. They don't tour very often, but I'd really suggest seeing them for anyone into shoegazer/noise pop music.

3) Dinosaur Jr. I think this was around 2014ish. They played a smaller venue but still sounded great.

4) Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks. 2014? I don't remember. Stephen Malkmus is one of my favorite musicians, but they all seemed pretty tired when I saw them. Not much energy tbh. Still had fun tho.

5) King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Saw them twice in 2017. Pretty good band, they have a lot of stuff in their catalog but get repetitive sometimes. Live they're pretty good. Killed it the first time, half of them seemed like they were on drugs the second time. Still a good show, but their performance was a bit off.

My favorite concerts have probably been at venues though. The acoustics, drinks, and atmosphere are all just life.

I got extremely lucky for my first concert.

We show up close to showtime and the line is super long but there is another door. We figure it cant get much worse so we just wait in front of that one. People then started lining up behind us. Turns out its a second entrance so we get right to the front.

Concert begins and its great, then the lead singer of "cage the elephant" stage dives onto me and sweats all over me. It was gross but still cool.

After the concert he is selling merch and signing stuff. I go up and buy a cd and then tell him he sweated all over me. He said it made us brothers and he gave me a custom signature.

I figure nothing will be as good as that so I havent gone to another one.
