So I got a PS 4 for Christmas. I bought and played Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires and Samurai Warriors 4 Empires. My question is that there are other 3 SW games, SW 4, SW 4-2 and SW Spirit of Sanada. Which of these 3 games is better to play for the story or the content?

For the story, Spirit of Sanada has the best narrative of any Warriors game out there, but it focuses solely on the single clan.
I haven't played SW3 or SW4 due to the lack of the right consoles at the time, but while I enjoyed 4-2, I wouldn't recommend it for the Story. It's pretty limited in that aspect. I've heard bad things about SW3 being slow and linear. Not sure about 4. I only know that hyper attacks were introduced 4-2, and I imagine those sped up the game a bit. If you play 4-2, don't expect the combat in SW4 to follow the same pace. --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!

Quite sure 4 added them and 4-II Balanced them, remember, they added a character type in 4. --- Official Teetotaller of PotD Dovie'andi se tovya sagain! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Hyper attacks will be more effective when ally morale is high. Certain areas on the battlefield are fortified to inhibit these attack You're right. For some reason, I remember them being an all-new addition in 4-2. --- Hail Hydra ... Copied to Clipboard!

Kinda, yes. The problem is SW4 did not do a proper XL, meaning II and Sanada-Maru tell slightly different stories, with some additional characters, but at their core they are all SW4.

If you have a Wii laying around, Samurai Warriors 3 has a kinda-sorta remake of Mysterious Murasame Castle inside.

Gameplay wise? Yes. From what I remember there was a dispute with Capcom at the time concerning the XL titles. Because of that II and Sanada-Maru are stand alone games with their own modes, stages and story, while lacking those of the orignal. --- Official Teetotaller of PotD Dovie'andi se tovya sagain! ...
