how i've seen reddit fail at this:

>topic about interesting informational topic
>top voted post with most relevant information gets top spot for a little bit
>meme joke that does a meta joke about the subject eats up all the upvotes
>long chain of responses reapplying the meta-ness of the joke onto itself for 20 replies

Yeah it's always this

Reddit is good for games that dont have any posters on the game boards here.

Reddit doesnt really create information. Its more of an aggregate. They arent breaking stories or anything. I can count the number of stories they created and they all entail outrage.

I also dont think that video guides and walkthroughs will ever replace written ones. They really cater to different things. FFIX is a great example. I use written guides for the game and video guide for chocographs.

Its a lot better than this place and provides much more useful information.

It's boring compared to message boards like this unless you normally just browse articles and pictures on the internet.

Reddit's the best place to view, lurk, read, watch things, but even as a moderator of a few subreddits, I don't ever feel the need to comment often.

I think discussion is good outside of default subreddits. People upvote and downvote for the stupidest reasons sometimes.

If this place was actually good, famous people would want to post here. I don't see Tom Hanks, or Bill Gates posting here. My experience with famous people has been with The Witcher 3's senior game designer, where he posted in my topic to confirm/ deny a thought I had about the game prior to release. Another CDPR employee chimed in and I felt pretty special tbh.

Never happens on GameFAQs.

The best we had here was Marcus aka ENB posted here before.

The thing I hate more than the upvote / downvote crap is that when reddit cries stuff happens. Like game devs only seem to change stuff when reddit cries every day.

I bet most people involved in the video game industry hate the shit out of reddit and only go there to soothe their community and so they can say they talk to their players.

You also have the hivemind reddit trash talking pro players for one bad game and then the pros start feeling more and more depressed. I've seen it across so many league players try and break away from reddit because of all the shittalk

lol? guys like kevin durant and draymond green get 10000x more online hate across all social media platforms than the most shit on league pro ever (keith) and yet they still body fools in the NBA

if league pros can't handle low elo redditors trashing them then that's their problem

This could be used as a tool to get developers to actually listen to the fans about problems plaguing modern games.

most of the complaints against reddit are really only evident in the larger and default subs
going to smaller subreddits are much better and there's actual discussion with less pun threads and circlejerks

for me it really is just as simple as the UI not being pleasing tbh

I do use it and go to certain subs like board games but yeah

Reddit is better than this site for the simple fact that bad posters cannot thrive there without being really clever.

For example, on Gamefaqs, you'll have someone make a topic about how everyone in black panther is ugly for "some reason", and without explicitly breaking any rules, the topic just stay up, even though its sole purpose is to provoke. That doesn't work on most reddit subreddits.

I agree with that mine 75% of popular reddit posts, you go to the comments hoping for more discussion about the topuc, instead the top comment is a bad joke then it goes off on a tangent of more bad jokes of the other jokes.

But than there's the small portion of reddit that's helpful like asking for advice on say speakers under $100.
