How did you find the game?

Since there was another topic about Anthem where people started talking about Inquisition, I'm interested to hear what the general consensus on it is.

I liked it more than any other DA game I've played, mostly because the combat was fun. Hated Origins' combat.

There's four deserts. But please power through as Inquisition and it's DLC might have shaken up the status quo in that world.

I think I'm just incapable of getting bored with the game. No matter how many sidequests I repeat or deserts I walk through, I just keep trucking.

Except for shards. Fuck shards.

I have the unpopular opinion of thinking DA2 is better. Despite the fact that Inquisition is better in technical aspects, I feel that it's devoid of any soul.
I can't really explain it but I've finished Origins and DA2 multiple times and still can't be bothered to finish Inquisition after 3 years. For all its faults, I've found plenty to enjoy in DA2 and somehow find very little in Inquisition.

I loved it myself. It certainly had faults, like the WAY TOO MANY sidequests... but they could all be ignored without any repercussions.

But the characters were fantastic, the story was pretty damn good (save maybe a lacklustre main villain) and it gave loads of new lore in the DLCs. I'd put it up right with Origins myself.

DA2 was an awful half finished garbage heap.

Inquisition ACTUALLY had soul, despite the MMO style of questing that drags it down some.

Playing through 2 now, it clearly has soul as well.

It definitely has issues and it being rushed certainly shows, but it was clearly a game they put as much love into as they could.

DA2's main drawback was the repetitive dungeons. If it had varied maps, its reception probably wouldn't have been as bad.

It's the truth though. The development staff basically said they were rushed and got maybe 55-60% done what they wanted to.

Garbage heap is harsh, as the actual mechanics were good enough, but it was tough.

Need to give it another fair shake. I tried some of those different difficulty tweaks they offer for my first playthrough and it ended up making the game super tedious with enemies that weren't particularly dangerous but had to be blasted away for like a minute to kill so I only passed a couple areas before shelving it.

I thought it was great with my only problems being that they need to fix the AI for allies and reintroduced a better tactics system like what they had in Origins. I didn't have any problem with fetch quests since they're largely optional and we had plenty of other types of missions to contend with in the actual story.

Nope, basically my only problem was the stupid AI that made the new (and actually pretty interesting) battle system horribly frustrating to deal with at high difficulties.

Deal.
I like mages, elves and usually play as a female in Bioware games. Maybe romancing Solas will draw me in more.
Last time I romanced the seemingly despised Serah who I actually found to be quite endearing at times.

Try to get all the DLC too. Jaws of Hakkon was good but it was the weakest of the three, the Decent raises some very interesting questions about the world of Thedas, and Trespasser is a damn good epilogue and where the relationship with Solas pays off long-term.

Not great. Some of the features, like managing the Inquisition, large maps, and crafting seemed cool in concept, but god damn was I bored to tears by the game. The story had a bullshit start (like ME2 & DA2) and none of the characters really interested me. Not even the returning characters.

By comparison, Mass Effect 1, Jade Empire, and KotOR were some of my absolute favorite games ever and I loved DA:O. BioWare just really went to shit.

Pre-trespasser it was decent but not amazing.

Post-trespasser it became one of my favorite games this Gen.

I still replay it once or twice a year now. Slowly working my way through all the builds I want.

Trespasser really did change so much for the better.

As we as trespasser adding a bunch of content to the base game as well as some significant changes to classes and quality of life improvements.

But yeah, the descent really did raise some interesting questions.

Absolutely.

*the best story content in the entire game
*the actual proper ending to rhe game, wraps up the chantry shit and sets up the next game.
*Solas related stuff is amazing, especially if you romances him.
*adds a rune system and a bunch of items, even to the base game
*completely retools the classes, making pretty much all of them better.
*many quality of life improvements

Trespasser is still good for you then. He's the main antagonist of sorts, though you don't fight him in trespasser. He's not the primary focus, but it's a good touch.
