In the eyes of advertisers, there are 2 separate websites right now: GameFAQs and GameSpot. By moving GameFAQs to a subdomain of GameSpot, they can combine their traffic metrics for advertisers. They go up a tier and can get paid more for ads. In reality, it's a lot more complex than this and can work very differently depending on the advertiser but this should cover the concept at least.
