Fuck. I feel like one day I'll wake up and delete my account and feel happier for it, but actually excluding myself from that social circle is pretty difficult. Honestly, here and there are about it for my online interactions. There are people I'd never talk to again and probably miss in the short term, but I'd soon stop caring. I hate being bound to anything though, especially when it's not even fun.

Sometimes, it's not that easy. For example, I live halfway across the country from most of my Facebook friends(who are friends and family is real life). It's sometimes easier to talk to multiple people through there then through calls and text messages. Sometimes... but it all depends...

There aren't many people I'd miss and lose touch with. I should probably find a way. My Croatian bro is also on my PSN friends list, and Instagram is still fun to me and there's some overlap. I think the hardest part is that the people I know are hardcore Facebook users and really don't bother with anything else.

I might just put out a message that I'm planning to delete my account a week in advance and tell anyone who wants to keep in touch to message me.

Just use other things like Skype, Facebook isn't a good platform for communication.

I tend to remove folk who keep deactivating their accounts as it seems like it's attention whoring. Even more so if they announce it. For me it's really not hard to just not log onto it however it's useful for it to be there for keeping in contact with people if I ever need to. I don't see the point deactivating it only to reactivate it in a short amount of time.

If I go, I would permanently close it. I delete the deactivators too. I'm not mad at anyone or seeking attention, I just find Facebook is a net negative for my life in terms of both annoying and distracting me. I like the memes and my friends, but it's toxic and brings out the worst in people on many levels.

Did they launch their new feed that supposedly makes it better yet? I haven't logged in in like a month; I only check it when I get a message/invite/tag in something, which isn't that often.

If they ever made it like it was circa ten years ago, that would be nice. Back then it was actually something for people to update with each other and I liked how limited it was. Now my news feed mostly consists of cringeworthy memes and racist shit. I don't even know why some of them show up; why do they have a "Share" button when I still see something that was merely "Liked"?

Tbh, I don't really even see the point of deleting it. Haha. For a couple years, I barely logged on. I even went like months without even logging on accidentally, AFAIK. But I do use it when it would help...

I try not to judge my friends on their politics, but some people post stuff that's so dumb it's unbelievable. It's weird how some people use it as this sort of splattering ground for haphazard ideas they don't talk much about normally. And it's not just politics either. People post about their sexual kinks and their drug habits and their misanthropy and I really don't need to see that from them

I just use it to scroll for 3 minutes in the morning then come shitpost here

Promise us though, that if you do delete it, you won't give some four-paragraph post about "why I'm deleting my facebook" and all that shit. Just delete it.

I use it for posting stories and observational comedy. Nice to see friends sharing photos and stuff (although I know there are better image sharing sites)

But honestly, most of what comes through my newsfeed is garbage.

Sport articles based on pure conjecture, sport updates, crappy 'fun facts', too many Americans posting politics I don't care about, dumbass 'rants', 'poorly taken photos from amateurs, dull updates from people saying they're going to bed and generally endless nonsense.

I really need a clear out.
