The entirety of the gameplay is based around grinding monsters for gear

during the grinding, your skills improve and your gear improve, but your skills matter more

If you like grinding and learning patterns in boss fight type battles, the game might be for you

I didn't even know there were running the demo again, but I found out late Saturday and played it to beat the new monster they added to the demo

the new monster was 10x harder than the 3 the demo had before, but most of the difficulty was in the fact that there was a 15 minute time limit, so you couldn't really try to be too safe since you needed to kill it quick

I had more losses by timing out than by carting too much

Yeah, seriously, that thing was pretty tough. I watched my cousin try it like 5 times Saturday and they lost each time. I tried it 3 times last night and barely managed to kill it as time was running out. I thought the victory screen was a time out screen when it first popped up.

Edit: None of the others even put up a decent fight.

I don't know whether to go for the superior graphics version or the version with the more populated online
all xbox is getting in the future is more halo, destiny and metro so I don't know if I should keep things the same or not, definitely getting dark souls remastered on xbox lol

well, they aren't really comparable

souls games are rpgs with atmosphere and progression through various places and environments and chasing an overarching story, while the progression in these games is only about leveling up your hunter rank so you can fight bigger and badder monsters

the monster hunter games have a lot of gameplay really in terms of hours, but I'm not sure if this one does because it's the first in a new series

I would watch a few reviews or let's plays of older games in the series, because even though I love monster hunter, it really isn't for everyone

Although I'm more hyped for Dragon Ball Fighterz now. (Prior to the beta I was more hyped for MH.)

actually as a huge dark souls fan
most of the monsters in monHun are better then all of the monsters you meet in demonsSouls, dark souls and even pre-dlc dark souls 2
instead of going to new locations capcom focuses more on the monsters and how they can add new animations to them with a different color or whatever, there are something like 70 monsters in generations

I'll be getting it, but haven't decided on what system yet.

I can get it on either the Xbone or Switch via cashing in my United Miles for gift cards, so probably one of those two systems.

I've never played a Monster Hunter game before though.

Edit: Huh. For some reason I thought it was coming to Switch. Clearly I am mistaken. So probably getting it for the Xbone then.

I was hoping to use the 10% coupon on it, but I guess the coupon doesn't apply to preorders, so I'll have to wait until it's actually out but I've been watching videos and I'm definitely buying it.

Yeah, I just hate getting bent over by a company unwilling to do right by its customers and award them with a payment of a subscription fee. I really hope all their BS, coasting on Mattick's Xbox blunders, comes to an end with PS5. The biggest reason I'm pleased the Switch is setting the world on fire is because I'm so bitter towards Sony. Like really fucking bitter and I want to see them suffer so they start acting appropriately again.

Note: I hated my first monster hunter game for about 6 to 10 hours until I started liking it for some reason, so warning for those new to the series

I probably hated it till I got good with my weapon

In my playtime so far, the one thing I did not see coming was:

A fricking uragaan covered in bones, lol

Is matchmaking screwy? Have a mission that says it's for 4 players, but no one is loading in. Ended up choosing to depart solo.
