Wisconsin-Madison? Not bad. That's a pretty good school. Apparently a worthy runner's up to being part of the "Public Ivy universities" group.

Just off the first link:

Yes, top 100 globally. The program I was in there though was easily one of the top 3 or so in the US. (That university is very small and highly variable across programs but its always an easy top 20 nationally). Sorry, wont give specifics.

And I was accepted to a top 10 global school, but I didnt go mainly because of the money unfortunately (I got a fairly good scholarship from where I did go). Ill give the name here since I dont have a degree tied to the school - the University of Chicago. Even visited the campus.

Cheers. I do a mixture of blogging and freelance work. I know what you mean about it being difficult to do philosophy, the analytic component does my head in sometimes. I highly recommend doing a philosophy degree as part of a double degree with another practical interest (e.g. BA/LLB, BA/BCom).

Not ranked on the lists in the OP, but I went to Wesleyan University for undergrad. Made top 10 on the Forbes College Rankings when I graduated:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/nataliesportelli/2016/07/06/the-full-list-of-americas-top-colleges-2016/

Pretty sure the only reason it isn't ranked is because it is more of a Liberal Arts College than a Research University. It has a really good reputation in America, though.
