Yeah but those ids should be readily and easily available. None of that bs you see in the south where dmv's in majority black areas have wacky ass hours that nobody could make.

Given that a lot of states issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens, I want voter ID laws to require something more official than a state ID.

I don't drive, and I really don't drink much by myself, so there's not really a need for me to have one. I imagine that describes a lot of people in areas with good public transit.

Also since when are state ID's free? I'm pretty sure you gotta pay a fee the cost varies per state. In New Jersey it cost $24 and lasts 4 years.

In theory yes, but as shown in Alabama the reality tends to be terrible:

https://www.rawstory.com/2015/10/alabama-to-stop-issuing-drivers-licenses-in-counties-with-75-black-registered-voters/

If the GOP weren't so God damn terrible, then I wouldn't have an issue with the voter id law.

I had an ID at the time I did those things (though actually I set up a bank account at Ally, online, and don't recall needing an ID for that). I haven't switched jobs since; the ID has since expired.

It's a common theme in basically every state that has pushed voter ID laws. The new laws have in almost every case been accompanied by new obstacles to obtaining ID.

That article only talks about drivers licenses. Is that state doing the same with state IDs which you don't have to pass a driving test to get. You just pay a fee and show some paperwork.

Unless I am mistaken, you can only get state I.Ds from the DMV as well.

Ehhhh, I know a guy that had his license suspended for 20 years and would drive till he was arrested for it, so like hell you need a license, at least not for private purchases like everyone and their mother does these days.

I believe there should be a list of all registered voters in the area and their addresses.

"Name and address, sir?"
"John Smith 123 Fake Street."
"Here's your ballot, thank you for voting."

And if someone's name and address come up twice, then an investigation is done.
