Board 8 > Has YouTube's audio been getting progressively more shitty for anyone else?

When I'm playing videos these says it sounds like my headphones are dying with lots of crackling. Scared the shit out of me until I realized it was actually only on YouTube, everything else is perfectly fine.

I haven't been noticing any consistent problems, but lately I've been noticing random "cracks" in the sound for lack of a better word. Like a ripping sound almost? But like most videos are fine but then once in a while a new video gets uploaded and I'll hear one of these artifacts or whatever at a specific point in the video. I've been assuming it's been issues with the recording (it still occurs in the same spot if I replay the video), but given the frequency maybe there's a problem with how sound files are being encoded on Youtube and then read by my computer?

The computer I generally use is a laptop on year 7 however, so this could very easily be a problem on my end.

Interesting. In my case the cracks aren't tied to any point in the video - if I go back, they won't be in the same spot, it just happens randomly while playing a video.

I will say I've only tried by rewinding a video 15 seconds and replaying it. I've never tried like completely closing and reopening the video.

So maybe it's a random issue with buffering or something and my method of going back and listening again doesn't actually catch it.

If you're using Chrome, go to Settings, go to the bottom for Advanced, then near the bottom of that under System turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available". I'm pretty sure that's what I did back when I had this issue. Other browsers could have a similar setting as well.
