The guy posted his videos here that showed his full name. From there you could find news articles that talk about his arrest (no idea if he shared them here). On top of this he constantly talked about this Facebook community he regularly posted on (which he used to fuel feuds he had with neighbors). Hell the information he shared on those neighbors could easily lead to users here harassing them too.

I'm guessing people contacted him on Facebook or something? Even then he would have to be a massive hypocrite to cry about it. Especially since he was threatening harassment to moderators and CNET staff as a response to however the site handled his whining.

I'd like to know more if you have some data on how moderations work and how many suspensions are downgraded to warnings. Because I agree with Franklin based on my own experience and observations, but if you have some facts that contradict those I'd like to know about them. Right now the moderation system appears to be completely disorganized and largely based on mod discretion which is incredibly inconsistent and even seemingly biased.

Plus the way they'll hold off on moderating messages until they can nail you with a few all at once is an insanely stupid way of handling things. Especially with how many mods have been proven to target posters they disagree with.

The TOU is not a catch all for every specific scenario ever conceived. It isn't perfectly objective, but no group tasked with that responsibility is. They are a group of volunteers who give their time to try to maintain order on the boards, and the rules change regularly. I can't speak for the whole team but when I was a moderator I honestly couldn't give a shit who you or your friends were. If you violated the terms of use I would action it. If I was wrong then you have an appeal process. Hell I even moderated fellow moderators when they posted violations.

Like how Error would mod any post that alluded to Ben Roethlisbergers rape allegations.

And really it isn't that mods will punish people for things that aren't against the rules, it's that they enforce the rules so inconsistently that it's nearly impossible to determine what is allowed and what is not. If you're called a moron and a number of other insults quite regularly which go unpunished but you get modded every time your post could even be interpreted as an insult, technically yeah you broke the rules, but how do you not feel targeted? How do you argue they aren't being targeted? This is the most common complaint about mods I see on this site so it really makes me question why I should just accept what you're saying at face value.

Why does everyone keep pointing out that he posted all of that info himself? I never said he didn't. When I said compile, I meant compile, as in they kept gathering all of the information that he provided himself to use against him, including finding ways to reach him off site.
