Yea yea. So I go to a couple different conventions every year. They are either based on Anime or videogames. Every con is set up in either a convention center or hotel to accommodate all the space needed for the panels, forums, gaming hubs, marketplaces, concert halls, and whatever other activity you can think of.

Many people sign up to host their own panels like the neopets panel you saw in that picture I uploaded. People can generally get away with most things as long as it loosely related to the con itelf. MAGfest(music and gaming festival) is pretty self explanatory. Anything to do with videogames or it's music goes. Yesterday I listened to a string quartet play music from Halo, Ark and Ori and the blind forest. A jazz band play Mario franchise themes as well as donkey Kong and Zelda. A rapper with the persona of Samus Aran with a lot of clever songs that integrate Metroid lore and themes with real life situations and feelings. A rave with DJ battles for remixed game music in electronic form. Every genre basically.

A lot of the panels have voice actors, professional cosplayers, game designers, and a bunch of people in the industry talk about their experiences, teach people new things or just shoot the shit. Some of them have autograph sessions.

The marketplace has tons of swag. I've gotten shirts, toys, props, my trusty flask and other stuff there. They have retro games and costumes, posters, wall scrolls and all kinds of decorative things.

There are gaming rooms for tournaments and casual play. The arcade room has like every Japanese gaming arcade box with stuff you've never even heard of. There is a cool section for upcoming indie games where you can play them early and occasionally even get free keys.

There is a fuckton of people that go and everyone is super friendly at these things. People feel really comfortable and express their nerdiness without being judged on it here. I make new friends every time and have a blast partying with em all at night. Nerds here get fucking wasted.
