We arent taken seriously at schools or by professionals. In order to get far in life we have to use our sex. We arent treated as equals and people who say we are find the few rare exceptions of women who surpassed men in their field. Most of us cant do that, not due to ability, but because people wont listen to us, just based on our sex.
People refuse to take crimes against us seriously and often blame us for being raped or abused.

People turn a blind eye to issues as they happen (being catcalled, being belittled, bosses not paying attention to our accomplishments and just saying ok honey, being stalked or harrassed)

Just because men ignore, as do many famous women, doesnt mean it isnt out there happening often.

I have picked up many books and I come from the south.

Anyone who really knows southern history would know that only really were black women treated bad while other raced women got away with a lot as long as they just went along.

Yes that was bad but I see all these white women acting like every woman was treated like black women were.

More men are raped annually in America than women. And THAT'S what isn't taken seriously. For the most part rape is taken very seriously by courts so long as the evidence is there, except for the known instances where people get off or get off easy and everyone in America who isn't a rapist gets outraged. But justice isn't seen for a lot of things, not just rape.

"Most" women aren't abused in those ways, many are at one time or another, including other women as lesbians have the highest domestic abuse rates. There are many, many services and resources for helping a woman get out of an abusive relationship, there's next to none for men. Shit, I actually got let go from even being allowed to volunteer at a woman's shelter after they decided to let all the male employees go to keep it a safe place for women. There's nothing like that for men who are victims of domestic abuse at nearly the same rates as women.

Yeah there's tons of issues facing women as well as men, but no reason to misrepresent the situation to seem like everything is tilted against women. That's not how any of the issues get fixed.

Women throughout history were treated basically like children or property and didn't have rights for a long time. In a lot of countries, women still don't have rights. I think LittleRoyal is exaggerating, no offense to her, but everyone saying women were treated poorly throughout history aren't wrong. And its not a competition on who was treated better or worse, I don't know why you keep making it seem that way.

Are women in modern America and most first world countries oppressed? Of course not. But they were for a long time and still are in a lot of places.

Mainly not owning property and being property of their husbands. If a woman was unmarried then she would be property of her father. If she had no father she likely could not find food easily.

Pillaging and raping villages was a common thing, and the women were taken by the conquerors.
It is hard to use this to say women had it bad though since the men of the village would be tortured to death and violently killed with their heads winding up on pikes.
