Snake would be fun to have back, but Ice Climbers are too classic to pass up, and they have one of the more unique playstyles relative to the poll cast.

Eh I dunno. I think a port would have been announced by now. We're getting to the point where this is the regular time between Smash sequels.

I'd really like a new Smash with someone who understands fighting game mechanics leading the project, so that we can get the best of both casual and competitive out of it without needing to turn off items or stages

Ice Climbers are the only ones I can see getting back in. Snake is too tied up with all the chaos going on with Konami and Kojima, and all of the other choices are redundant or useless. There should be NO more clone characters, and since Charizard is now flying solo, I don't see Squirtle or Ivysaur coming back either.

The only way they add Pokemon Trainer back in is if they give him a brand new lineup based on a different set of starter Pokemon. Litten/Brionne/Decidueye could work if they want to pump Sun/Moon a bit more, or if they have Diamond/Pearl remakes up their sleeves, Piplup/Grotle/Infernape would work as well.

I'd rather just see a Smash 5 at this point though, not a Smash 4 deluxe port.

Tbh I could see Snake returning in the next Smash along with Bomberman. Bomberman seems to have been a hit on Switch.

I don't think Konami is that much of an issue.

At this point, yeah a new game is more likely.

A port would have been best earlier on in the Switch's lifecycle, but at this point with no official news on any Smash Switch game, an all new game seems likelier.

You never know, Nintendo still wants to support the 3DS with exclusives even though they got a successor for some reason.

Nintendo's support of the 3DS seems to be dying off, actually. Nothing big from Nintendo is announced for it, and in fact, all major Nintendo franchises seem to have moved to the Switch, such as Kirby, Fire Emblem, and--most notably--mainline Pokemon.

Sakurai injures himself worse and worse from overwork every time he makes a Smash Bros, but I'd be surprised if he let Nintendo make one without him. So they'll probably remake 4 like they did Mario Kart 8.

It'd be pretty awesome if the final Smash release were just a compilation of all previous Smash games with indefinite, high-quality online functionality.

Playing Smash 64 online on my Switch would be pretty fucking sick.

Oh hey I'm not the only Ivysaur vote

When Brawl was the current game, I downloaded a homebrew mod for Brawl that split Pokemon Trainer's three Pokemon (as well as Zelda/Sheik and Samus/ZSS since they were still connected in that game) into separate characters and gave them each a new move to replace the Down-B used to switch between them. I was already really good with all three of them since Pokemon Trainer was one of my mains in Brawl, but I especially kicked ass with Ivysaur. His aerial game is great, Bullet Seed racked up damage like crazy, and the new Down-B move that this mod gave him (I think it was Solar Beam) was an amazing killing move.

It would be cool to see Squirtle and Ivysaur back. I just don't think it'll ever happen, which is why I voted Ice Climbers in the poll and answered the way I did earlier.
